Realizing Research Based on Tri Dharma
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is committed to realizing research based on the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi). In an effort to achieve meaningful research, we encourage interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships with various institutions and industries, both national and international. Through a systematic, empirically grounded scientific approach, Prihatin Lumbanraja and the research team demonstrate that digital transformation is not merely a technological shift, but a strategic process that determines the future of organizational innovation in the digital economy era.

Siti Utari Rahayu demonstrates her capacity as a researcher in the fields of materials physics and photovoltaic technology, capable of integrating semiconductor theory with nanostructured material experiments.

Through contributions such as this, Sri Amelia and the research team not only enrich the scientific literature in microbiology and pharmacy, but also pave the way for the development of alternative therapies based on natural resources that are more sustainable and adaptive to the future dynamics of antimicrobial resistance.

Universitas Sumatera Utara Institute for Research
The Universitas Sumatera Utara Institute for Research (LP USU) was established in 1970 under the name of the Institute for Research and Community Service, abbreviated as LP3M, and was chaired by Prof. Andreas T. Barus, M.Sc from 1970 to 1978. LP3M USU was later divided into 2 (two) separate institutes, namely the Institute for Research (LP) and the Institute for Community Service (LPPM).

The Universitas Sumatera Utara Institute for Scientific Writing Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPIHKI USU) is an academic support unit that functions as a facilitator and developer to increase the number and quality of publications in reputable scientific journals that have gained national and international recognition and possess IPR (Intellectual Property Rights). LIPIHKI is accountable to the Rector under the coordination of the Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation.
