New Hope for Cervical Cancer Treatment with Andaliman
Cervical cancer is a serious disease that requires a comprehensive approach to prevention and treatment. The discovery of the potential of Zanthoxylum acanthopodium as a cervical cancer therapy provides new hope. This plant has anticancer effects and offers a safer and more natural solution. With further research and proper support, andaliman could be a future cervical cancer drug candidate, bringing new hope to many women in Indonesia and the world.” said Prof. Dr. Syafruddin Ilyas

Since 2008, the Directorate of Research has organized several research groups to implement strategic research topics. These research groups were established based on the Decree of the Rector and have research topics that align with USU's strategic research topics. The research groups consist of researchers from various disciplines who have similar interests and are competent in their respective fields.

The Universitas Sumatera Utara Institute for Scientific Writing Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPIHKI USU) is an academic support unit that functions as a facilitator and developer to increase the number and quality of publications in reputable scientific journals that have gained national and international recognition and possess IPR (Intellectual Property Rights). LIPIHKI is accountable to the Rector under the coordination of the Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation.

The Universitas Sumatera Utara Institute for Research (LP USU) was established in 1970 under the name of the Institute for Research and Community Service, abbreviated as LP3M, and was chaired by Prof. Andreas T. Barus, M.Sc from 1970 to 1978. LP3M USU was later divided into 2 (two) separate institutes, namely the Institute for Research (LP) and the Institute for Community Service (LPPM).
