USU Reviews Phase I of the 2026 Independent Student Admission Selection, Ensures Transparent and Accountable Process

“We ensure that the entire selection process is conducted transparently, in an integrated manner, and in accordance with applicable regulations so that it can identify truly qualified prospective students,” said the USU Rector.
MEDAN – USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) conducted a monitoring visit of the Phase I Independent Student Admission Selection (SMM) 2026, held at the Information Systems Center (PSI) and the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology on Monday (15/06/2026). The visit was carried out as part of the university leadership’s direct oversight to ensure that all stages of the examination process were conducted orderly, transparently, and in compliance with established regulations.
The monitoring activity was led directly by USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., accompanied by Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt. Both leaders inspected the implementation of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) on-site to assess system readiness, supervision mechanisms, and the overall smooth execution of the selection process.
In his remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin stated that the implementation of the 2026 SMM had been designed as an integrated, online-based system in accordance with ministry regulations. He emphasized that every stage, from registration to examination, was conducted transparently and accountably to minimize the potential for misconduct and maintain the integrity of the admission process.
“We ensure that the entire selection process is conducted transparently, in an integrated manner, and in accordance with applicable regulations so that it can identify truly qualified prospective students,” said the Rector.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, reaffirmed USU’s commitment to maintaining a fair, professional, and highly credible admissions system. She also highlighted the crucial role of committee members and examination supervisors in safeguarding the credibility of the process and ensuring that all procedures are implemented according to established standards.
“Integrity is the key foundation of this selection process. We ensure that all committee members and supervisors carry out their responsibilities with full accountability,” she stated.

Furthermore, USU explained that its supervision system has been strengthened through training sessions for examination supervisors, the appointment of coordinators at every test location, and technical briefings before the examinations began. In addition, participants undergo strict identity verification procedures and screening using metal detectors to ensure that examinations are conducted in a secure and orderly environment.
The Secretary of the SMM Organizing Committee, Nana Dyki Dirbawanto, S.E., M.A.B., explained that all technical preparations had been carefully completed, including coordination across 16 examination locations with a total of 73 CBT rooms, to ensure that the entire process runs smoothly and in accordance with established procedures.
Through this monitoring activity, Universitas Sumatera Utara reaffirmed its commitment to organizing a transparent, accountable, and equitable student admission process while continuously improving its selection system to identify the best prospective students who will contribute to the advancement of the nation.
