
USU Students Create Eco-Friendly Food Packaging Made from Oil Palm Fronds and Papaya Leaves
This time, students from Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) successfully developed an environmentally friendly food packaging alternative to styrofoam through the Student Creativity Program – Entrepreneurship (PKM-K). The product, named BIOFLAEIS, is a biofoam made from waste materials such as oil palm fronds (Elaeis guineensis) and papaya leaves (Carica papaya).

3 Candidates for USU Rector 2026-2031 with the Highest Votes Officially Elected
The election results have determined three candidates who will then be selected by 21 Members of the Board of Trustees (Majelis Wali Amanat, MWA) in Jakarta. These three candidates are Prof. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., who received 53 votes; the candidate with the second highest votes is Prof. Poppy Anjelisa Z Hasibuan, who obtained 18 votes; and the third highest vote recipient is Prof. Isfenti Sadalia with 16 votes.
