“S1 Akuntansi ini merupakan salah satu prodi unggulan di USU dengan tingkat peminat yang sangat tinggi, dan kita berharap melalui asesmen lapangan ini dapat kembali meraih akreditasi unggul, bahkan untuk periode lima tahun,” ujar Prof. Poppy.
HUMAS USU — Universitas Sumatera Utara, through its Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB USU), held a field assessment conducted by LAMEMBA for the Undergraduate (S1) Accounting Study Program. The assessment took place at the Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, FEB USU, on Wednesday (April 29, 2026). This activity represents an important stage in the accreditation process to ensure continuous educational quality.
Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, expressed appreciation for the achievements of the Faculty of Economics and Business and shared high expectations for the ongoing assessment. She noted that most study programs at FEB have achieved “excellent” accreditation status, with the Undergraduate Accounting Program being one that consistently maintains high quality.
“The Undergraduate Accounting Program is one of the leading programs at USU with a very high number of applicants. We hope that through this field assessment, it will once again achieve excellent accreditation, even for the next five-year period,” she stated.
Prof. Poppy further emphasized that this achievement aligns with the university’s broader goal of increasing the number of highly accredited study programs in preparation for future institutional accreditation. “We hope more programs will achieve excellent status so that the university’s accreditation targets can be successfully met,” she added.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Fadli, stressed that accreditation is no longer merely an evaluation process but a strategic instrument for ensuring the quality of higher education. He explained that the current assessment focuses more on confirming the achievements that have already been accomplished by the study program.
“Accreditation today serves as a confirmation of what we have implemented and documented. Therefore, we hope to achieve the best possible result, namely excellent accreditation,” he remarked.
Head of the Undergraduate Accounting Program, Rina Br Bukit, highlighted that the program showcases its strengths in technology integration, governance, and sustainability during this assessment. She also emphasized that Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is a key approach in their learning system.
“We highlight the uniqueness of the program in terms of technological advancement, information systems, and sustainability-based governance as our key strengths in this assessment,” she explained.
She added that students are encouraged to be more active through case-based and project-based learning methods, supported by internship programs to better prepare them for the workforce.
“Students are not only expected to understand theory but are also prepared to meet market demands through hands-on experience,” she added.

LAMEMBA assessor, Dian Indri Purnamasari, explained that field assessments no longer focus on identifying shortcomings but rather on strengthening and validating the submitted data. She noted that the documents prepared by the Undergraduate Accounting Program demonstrate strong quality.
“Accreditation today is not about finding faults, but about confirming and building communication to ensure that what has been documented aligns with actual conditions,” she stated.
This field assessment is expected to proceed smoothly and serve as a strategic step in enhancing educational quality, strengthening competitiveness, and advancing the Undergraduate Accounting Program at Universitas Sumatera Utara toward achieving excellent accreditation at both national and international levels.
