22nd IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2023
Strengthening their achievements on the international stage, the Badminton USU Student Activity Unit Team achieved a bronze medal at the prestigious 22nd IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2023 event. This sports, arts, and cultural event brought together delegates from universities in three countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The festival took place from July 8–11, 2023, at Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh. In their pursuit of the bronze medal, the USU Badminton Team was represented by Daniel Trino Lopez Siagian (Development Economics, 2020), Rizky Putra Aditya (Public Administration Science, 2018), Adelia Safrita Batubara (Psychology, 2017), dan Cindy Aprilia (Psychology, 2020). Thorough preparation, proper training, and prayers were the keys to their victory. Michael Saragih, Vice Head of the Badminton USU Student Activity Unit, also expressed his appreciation. According to him, the achievements achieved by this team were highly commendable, considering that they competed in an event attended by delegates from three countries.

The Badminton USU Student Activity Unit offers opportunities for students with an interest and talent in badminton. New member registrations are open at specific times, which will be informed by the student activity unit's person in charge (PIC). As part of the Badminton USU Student Activity and prospective applicants, you will have the chance to participate in various tournaments, from university to national and international levels. To register, you must be an active student from the last three USU diploma (D-3) or undergraduate (S-1) batches, attach a copy of your student ID card/temporary student ID card (KTM/KTMS), pay the registration fee, and attach a passport-sized photo (3×4 cm). Once the documents are received, prospective members will undergo a selection process in the form of an interview and assessment of playing abilities. The Badminton USU Student Activity Unit not only offers regular training sessions held three times a week but also various other exciting activities, such as fun games, friendly matches, and social events. Jojo, the Head of the Badminton USU Student Activity Unit, hopes that USU students will actively participate and help the Badminton USU Student Activity Unit become more cohesive, enhance its achievements, and compete at the national and international levels.
