“This is a moment of pride, not only for USU but also for all of you, as this will be recorded in the history of student achievements,” stated Prof. Edy.

USU Public Relations – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an audience meeting with the outstanding students at the Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations (DITMAWALUMNI), USU Rectorate Building, on Tuesday (September 30, 2025). The event served as a platform for dialogue between the university leadership and students to report their academic and non-academic achievements.
Prof. Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., Vice Rector I for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, warmly welcomed the session and expressed his gratitude to the students who had successfully brought recognition to USU at local, national, and international levels. He commended the students for their dedication and hard work, noting that their achievements would become a significant part of USU’s historical record of student accomplishments.
“This is a moment of pride, not only for USU but also for all of you, as this will be recorded in the history of student achievements,” he remarked.
Prof. Edy further explained that the accomplishments of USU students demonstrate their active role in inspiring others to develop their talents in various fields, thereby contributing to the university’s reputation. He emphasized that this kind of audience allows USU to provide even stronger institutional support for student development in the future.
“These achievements are very important to us, as they show that USU students are not only focused on their education but also on empowering and motivating their peers to contribute to USU through excellence in various fields,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rahma Yurliani, S.Psi., M.Psi., Director of DITMAWALUMNI USU, highlighted the increasing number of USU students who have successfully participated in regional, national, and even international competitions. The competitions span a wide range of fields—from sports, such as the 14th Silent Knight Karate Cup in Malaysia, to religious events, including the International MTQ held at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK). She encouraged students to consistently report their achievements to the university.
“Alhamdulillah, more of our students are now competing and winning in various competitions—not only at the regional level but also nationally and even internationally,” she stated.
Rahma reaffirmed DITMAWALUMNI USU’s commitment to supporting students through financial assistance and mentorship for those preparing to compete. She also mentioned that various student activity units (UKMs) at USU are currently receiving guidance to enhance their competitiveness. Based on their achievements, students will also be eligible for course recognition and incentives during the upcoming USU Awarding Night in early December.
“We are not only providing financial support for competition activities but also continuous mentoring,” she explained.
Rahma further noted that by participating in competitions and earning achievements, students are essentially investing in themselves—learning perseverance, strategy, and self-development. She expressed hope that more USU students will continue to excel and report their successes to DITMAWALUMNI, reminding them that the university is always open to receiving proposals and holding discussions with students aspiring to achieve.
“I hope more students will report their achievements,” she emphasized.
One of the outstanding students, Jasmine Anastasya Widy, expressed her gratitude to USU for its consistent support, which enabled her to win 2nd place in the Speech & Debate competition (Public Speaking category) at the 10th Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (OLIVIA X) held at Universitas Brawijaya, Malang.
“This achievement is not only for me but also for my teammates—and especially for my university, USU, which has supported me from the very beginning,” she said.
Another accomplished student, Muhammad Lutfi Kamil Siregar, who represented Indonesia at the 20th Asian Roller Skating Championship held in Jecheon, South Korea, expressed his hope that more USU students would continue to achieve and make their alma mater proud.
“My hope for fellow USU students is that they will keep striving for excellence and continue to make USU proud,” he stated.
