MEDAN-PR: Universitas Sumatera Utara team won 7 medals in the 22nd IMT GT 2023 event at Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh. They consisted of 3 gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. The Indonesia Malaysia Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Student Meeting Forum, which this year took the theme 22nd IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2023, was held at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) Banda Aceh from 8 to 12 July 2023.

Universitas Sumatera Utara’s Seminar team consisting of Denny Arifin (Faculty of Agriculture), Brigette Natiar Sitanggang (Faculty of Economics and Business), and Dewi Suyeni (Faculty of Vocational Studies) won a gold medal in the Best Video category. They also won several other categories, such as Gold Medal Mixed Group Presentation (Dewi Suyeni), Silver Medal Mixed Group Presentation (Brigitte Natiar Sitanggang), and Bronze Medal Mixed Group Presentation (Deny Arifin).

Meanwhile, the USU Tennis Team consisting of Nurul Hasya Tantri (Faculty of Dentistry), Mhd Ridho Syahputra (Faculty of Cultural Sciences), and Risky Hadish Sitohang (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences) received the Bronze Medal.

The USU Badminton Team consisting of Daniel Trinov Lopez Siagian (Faculty of Economics and Business), Rizky Putra Aditya (FISIP), Adelia Safrita Batubara (Faculty of Psychology) and Cindy Aprilia Naumi (Faculty of Psychology) also won the Bronze Medal. Meanwhile, the USU Cultural Team received the title of Best Music Performance through their performance.

Responding to this, USU Vice Chancellor I Edy Ikhsan, SH, MA, in his statement, expressed his joy and appreciated all the achievements obtained by the team.

This is a proud achievement for USU and a reflection of the dedication and hard work of the students and coaches. That is why we would like to thank you for all your efforts and achievements," Vice-Rector I stated

USU’s Vice-Rector I further explained that USU routinely holds an Award Night for outstanding students at the national and international levels every year.

"Hopefully, this activity can still be carried out at the end of the year, and these outstanding students can receive appreciation from USU. Even if, in the future, the activity is canceled for one reason or another, maybe there will be compensation given to USU's outstanding students. This does not only apply to this IMT-GT event but to all events recognized by Puspresnas and Simkatmawa, correct, "he explained. (RJ)
