Brigadier General Toga said the USU students who were caught were victims of drug abuse. In general, they are very creative students.

PR USU - Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) students who were caught in a drug raid some time ago will be made Anti-Drug Ambassadors by the BNN of North Sumatra Province. This was stated by the Head of the Provsu BNN Brigadier General Pol Drs Toga Habinsaran Panjaitan during a visit to USU, Thursday (10/14/2021).

Brigadier General Toga said the USU students who were caught were victims of drug abuse. In general, they are very creative students.

"USU students are good at playing music. It is a capital to empower them so they can avoid drug abuse," he said.

Brigadier General Toga also explained that their current option is to be rehabilitated.

"Because we see they have potential, where they are good at playing music. Later we hope they can become anti-drug ambassadors. Not only for the USU Campus, but for the whole community," said Toga.

Meanwhile Vice Rector I Dr. Edy Ikhsan, SH, MA together with USU Vice Rector III Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, SSi, MSi, Apt, Vice Rector V Ir. Luhut Sihombing, MP, Head of the USU Asset and Business Bureau appreciated the collaboration with the North Sumatra National Narcotics Agency

Edy Ikhsan said that USU had carried out internal coordination in terms of eradicating narcotics trafficking, especially in the campus area.

"We have coordinated internally, how USU seeks to eradicate narcotics trafficking, especially in the campus area. The USU Rector's direction is to improve security monitoring, and activate the narcotics eradication task force," said Edy.

In addition, the Rector of USU instructed to provide intense assistance to students. Students are also not allowed to stay overnight. Even if you have to stay overnight, you must have written permission and the knowledge of the campus.

"We know that maybe our cooperation with BNNP in eradicating narcotics will result in bad news about USU. However, we must take this path as a form of eradicating narcotics,” he said. (©ULC)
