USU Student Delegation Ceremony for Three Prestigious Events

USU PR - The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a ceremony to dispatch USU student delegates for three prestigious competitions, namely the 23rd Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Varsity Carnival, tPekan Seni Mahasiswa Nasional (Peksiminas) XVII, dan Pekan Olahraga Nasional XXI 2024. The event took place at the USU DLCB Court, on Tuesday (20/08/2024).
This release event is not just ceremonial but a momentum that illustrates the pride and great expectations of the entire USU academic community. Through his speech, USU Vice Rector I, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., opened the event with a motivating and inspiring speech. He congratulated the students who were selected as USU delegates.
“I am proud of your achievements and hope you can give your best performance so that you can make USU proud,” said Dr. Edy.
Vice Rector I of USU, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., added that participation in these three events is not only to compete but also to bring the good name of the alma mater to the national and international arena. These three events are an opportunity to showcase ability, creativity, and sportsmanship in academics, arts, and sports.
“Your hard work and dedication will not be in vain. We pray that the best results can be achieved by our delegates,” said Dr. Edy.
Director of USU's Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations, Rahma Yurliani S.Psi, M.Psi, as well as the Head of Delegation, said that 50 USU delegates will participate in the “23rd IMT-GT Varsity Carnival” which will be held at University Sains Malaysia, on August 25-31, 2024.
“Last year's achievements were quite proud with The Best Music Performance for the Culture category, as well as several gold, silver, and bronze medals in the Seminar and Sports fields,” Rahma explained.
Rahma Yurliani S.Psi, M.Psi, also continued that 17 USU delegates will participate in “Peksiminas XVII,” which will take place at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, on September 1-7, 2024. For “PON XXI 2024”, 30 USU delegates will participate in the event held in Aceh-North Sumatra on September 8-20, 2024.
“Last year's achievements were also impressive, with first place in Male Poetry Reading and Comic Strip and second place in Vocal Group. We are ready to give our best and continue the tradition of achievement that has been built,” Rahma concluded in her report.
The release ceremony ended with the handover of the USU Flag to the delegation representatives. High spirits and hopes accompany every step of USU students who will become university ambassadors nationally and internationally.
