HUMAS USU – The plan of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) to establish the China-Indonesia Skilled Talent Development Center has received appreciation from Dr. T Kasa Rullah Adha, MTCSOL, Lecturer of the Mandarin Language Study Program. According to him, this program will strongly support USU graduates in achieving global standards.
“Of course, the Mandarin Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, USU fully supports this initiative. This collaboration will help ensure the success of upcoming programs at the China-Indonesia Skilled Talent Development Center,” said the Secretary of the Mandarin Study Program on Tuesday (16/9/2025).
Dr. T Kasa Rullah explained that the presence of the China-Indonesia Skilled Talent Development Center at USU will positively impact not only the Mandarin Study Program but also other academic programs, as the training center is expected to become an incubator for students to enhance their skills to a global level.
“If the expertise becomes global, naturally the competitiveness will be much higher. USU’s reputation as an internationally standardized university will also be further elevated. So, this program is truly excellent for improving our quality,” said the Master’s graduate from Jinan University, Guangzhou, China.
As a graduate of a Chinese university, Dr. Kasa views USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin’s move to establish academic cooperation with Inner Mongolia Technical University Construction (IMTUC) and China Construction Fourth Division Corp. Ltd (CCFDC) as a strategic step that is truly necessary.
According to him, China continues to experience rapid development, and the international cooperation initiatives undertaken by Rector Prof. Mury should be strongly supported by the entire USU academic community, from lecturers, students, and staff to alumni.
As previously reported, USU has partnered with IMTUC and CCFDC to establish the China-Indonesia Skilled Talent Development Center, which will be built within the USU campus. The collaboration is a follow-up to the 2025 Inner Mongolia Conference on High-Quality Development of Education Opening-Up, held in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia, China, some time ago.
The conference brought together representatives from universities in China, Indonesia, Russia, Mongolia, Egypt, and Thailand, focusing on education internationalization and strengthening inter-country cooperation. In this forum, USU received special invitations as a representative from Indonesia.
USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., emphasized that the training center represents a tangible step by USU in preparing outstanding Indonesian human resources.
“USU is committed to establishing the China-Indonesia Skilled Talent Development Center on our campus,” said Prof. Muryanto Amin in Medan, Thursday (28/8/2025).
In its initial phase, the center will focus on the field of construction, with teaching conducted jointly by lecturers from USU and IMTUC. Training equipment will be imported directly from China. CCFDC, an international construction company from China with multiple projects in Indonesia, is expected to absorb around 3,000 Indonesian workers trained at this center.
Furthermore, the Rector explained that the training center will continue to expand according to future needs.
“In the future, this center will also grow into other fields such as electric vehicles, agriculture, mining, and artificial intelligence. We are also preparing joint degree and double degree schemes with IMTUC, enabling USU students to pursue two years of study in Medan and two years in China, supported by strong Mandarin language proficiency,” he added.
On the same occasion, the Director of the Internationalization and Global Partnership Directorate of USU, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, ST., MT., was also present and delivered a presentation titled *“China-Indonesia International Exchange and Cooperation.”*
