USU PR – The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., officially bid farewell to six Professors who have entered retirement. This activity served as a form of appreciation for the dedication and service of the Professors in advancing education, research, and community service within USU. The farewell ceremony was held in the USU Senate Meeting Room on Wednesday (December 17, 2025).

The six Professors who have entered retirement are Prof. Dra. Azizah Nasution, M.Sc., Ph.D.; Prof. Dr. Zul Alfian, M.Sc.; Prof. dr. Guslihan Dasa Tjipta, Sp.A(K).; Prof. Dr. Syaad Afifuddin Sembiring, S.E., M.Ec.; Prof. Dr. Marhaposan Situmorang; and Prof. Dr. dr. Dharma Lindarto, Sp.PD-KEMD.

The Rector of USU conveyed his highest appreciation to the Professors for their years of dedication, service, and contribution to the world of education. The exemplary conduct demonstrated by the retired Professors has become an important foundation for improving institutional quality.

“Carrying out the duties of the tri dharma—education, research, and community service—along with extensive collaboration, has made a very significant contribution to the progress of Universitas Sumatera Utara up to this day,” he stated.

He further explained that the role and contributions of the Professors in the field of education have been substantial and will continue to be needed as sources of inspiration and academic references for the academic community. According to him, the values of dedication and intellectual thought of the Professors must continue to be sustained through various breakthroughs and the strengthening of academic programs within the university, including future innovations.

“These are the innovations that we must develop through activities that will be launched in performance packages implemented at the lecturer level,” Prof. Mury continued.

On the same occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosmayati, M.S., expressed that the experience and expertise that have been built are expected to continue contributing to the development of science and the advancement of Universitas Sumatera Utara.

“The Board of Professors highly appreciates the hard work of the Professors over the years. Our hope is that you will continue to contribute to advancing Universitas Sumatera Utara,” she said.

Prof. Dr. Syaad Afifuddin Sembiring, S.E., M.Ec., Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, expressed his gratitude for having carried the responsibility of educating the nation’s future generations. The knowledge that has been imparted will later serve as capital in building the country toward a better direction.

“From the beginning, we also had the desire and interest to contribute our thoughts and energy to the best of our ability, as expected by the Rector and also by the government,” he stated.
