USU Receives Visit from the DPR RI PPID to Discuss Strengthening Public Information Services

HUMAS USU – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a visit from the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) of the Secretariat General of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) on Wednesday (24/06/2026) at the Student Service Center (SSC) Building of USU.
The visit was attended by the Director of Admissions and Student Services at USU, Prof. Dr. Rudy Sofyan, S.S., M.Hum., the Head of the Public Information and Community Visits Subdivision of the Secretariat General of DPR RI, Sugeng Irianto, S.Sos., M.A., and the Secretary to the Director of Public Relations, Promotion, and Protocol Affairs at USU, Ami Dilham, S.E., M.Si.
During the visit, the PPID of the Secretariat General of DPR RI conducted a benchmarking study and knowledge-sharing session regarding public information management practices at USU. The university was recognized for its effective public information service system, particularly after receiving the “Informative” designation multiple times for its implementation of public information disclosure.
“This visit aims to learn from the success of USU’s PPID in managing public information services. USU’s service facilities, management system, and service standards provide valuable examples that can help improve the quality of public information services within the DPR RI,” said Sugeng Irianto, S.Sos., M.A.
Sugeng further explained that the visit was intended to study USU’s achievements in managing public information services. According to him, the university’s service facilities, management systems, and service standards can serve as best practices for enhancing public information services within the DPR RI.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Rudy Sofyan, S.S., M.Hum. emphasized that providing services to the public, including students, is an essential part of USU’s commitment as a higher education institution. He noted that quality service is not only about meeting information needs but also reflects the institution’s responsibility to provide open, timely, and accurate access to information.
“Good information services are not only oriented toward fulfilling information needs but also represent an institution’s responsibility to provide open, prompt, and accurate access to the public,” said Prof. Rudy.
Through this visit, USU and the PPID of the Secretariat General of DPR RI are expected to strengthen collaboration in public information management. The activity also served as a platform for exchanging experiences and best practices aimed at improving service quality, promoting transparency, and developing more effective public service systems in the future.
