Langkawi, Malaysia, August 2, 2026 — As part of The Global Nexus: USU × UUM (Universiti Utara Malaysia) 2026, the Public Sector Accounting Study Program of the Faculty of Vocational Studies at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) participated in an International Community Service program held on August 1–2, 2026, in Langkawi and Pulau Tuba, Malaysia. The program served as an implementation of international academic collaboration through community service while strengthening the Public Sector Accounting Study Program’s commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in collaboration with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and partner institutions from various countries.

The delegation from the Public Sector Accounting Study Program, represented by Dr. Sambas Ade Kesuma, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., and Risanty, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., accompanied USU students in participating in a series of community service activities alongside international participants. Through these activities, participants had the opportunity to interact directly with local communities, gain an understanding of local community life, and develop social awareness through cross-cultural collaboration.

In addition to serving as an implementation of community service, the International Community Service program also provided a learning environment that brought together students and academics from various countries. Throughout the program, participants exchanged experiences regarding community empowerment practices, broadened their cultural perspectives, and established international networks that are expected to develop into various forms of academic and professional collaboration in the future.

At the end of the program, all delegates attended the Closing Ceremony and Cultural Night, which featured artistic and cultural performances representing the participating countries. The warm and friendly atmosphere reflected a spirit of mutual respect for cultural diversity while strengthening the relationships established among participants throughout The Global Nexus: USU × UUM 2026.

Participation in the International Community Service program complemented the various collaborative activities undertaken by the Universitas Sumatera Utara delegation during The Global Nexus: USU × UUM 2026, including the Sustainability Workshop, academic discussions, international research networking, and community service activities. The overall program reflected the synergy between Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universiti Utara Malaysia, and partner institutions in strengthening the internationalization of higher education through collaboration in education, research, community service, and cultural exchange.

Through these various activities, Universitas Sumatera Utara and its partner institutions reaffirmed their commitment to expanding international cooperation that supports the development of education, research, community service, student and faculty mobility, and innovations that benefit society at large.

For the Public Sector Accounting Study Program, participation in the International Community Service program provided a valuable experience in strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education at the international level. The program hopes that the collaboration established through this initiative will continue to develop through various education, research, and community service programs that create tangible impacts while expanding a sustainable international academic network.
