USU PR - Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) signed an MoU with PT Prodia Widyahusada, Tbk as well as held a webinar entitled "Let's Talk Research OMIC Technologies in Personalized Medicine". The event was held through a zoom meeting, Friday (12/10/2021).

USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., said this collaboration was to continue the previous memorandum of understanding by increasing the quantity and programs that support the implementation of the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program.

"In its implementation, there may be adjustments in the work unit that can provide balanced benefits between these two institutions," said the Rector.

The Rector said that USU and PT. Prodia Widyahusada, Tbk would strengthen cooperation in the field of research for scientific development activities. As well as realizing the development of business processes and strengthening the network between the campus and the industrial world.

"In the context of MBKM, PT.Prodia Widyahusada, Tbk as an industry that already exists upstream and downstream of its products, can be provided with some kind of facility so that USU's needs in developing knowledge or networking can be assisted by USU," Dr. Muryanto explained.

In addition, USU and PT. Prodia Widyahusada, Tbk want the development of human resources from USU, especially students. Not only with the Faculty of Medicine, there will also be a form of collaboration with other faculties.

"There will be programs, such as community service, such as a healthy village initiated by USU and Prodia," he continued.

Dr. Muryanto hopes that this collaboration can provide benefits for the benefit of the community.

President Director of PT Prodia Widyahusada, Tbk, Dr. Dewi Muliaty, M.Si said that previously there had been cooperation between USU and PT Prodia Widyahusada, Tbk, such as sponsorship support for scientific events and research and writing seminars.

"In addition, there have also been 321 studies from FKUSU, we hope that in the future more and more USU students or lecturers can take advantage of Prodia's research services," Dr. Dewi said.

She added that PT Prodia Widyahusada, Tbk also has the latest inspection facilities to support clinical research for students and lecturers. USU lecturers and students can also take advantage of journals from PT Prodia Widyahusada, Tbk which have been indexed by Scopus,

"If the collaboration reaches the university level, the research that can be done is not limited to only FK, other faculties can also conduct research collaborations with Prodia," she said. ((C)ULC)
