USU Prepares Lectures for Down-streaming Local Wisdom in the Bestari Lecture Series Program for the Nation

MEDAN - Public Relations: The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is preparing a lecture with the theme "Down-streaming of Local Wisdom Products and Natural Resources of North Sumatra" in the Bestari Lecture Series for the Nation program which will be held in July 2021.
The Bestari (Broad Knowledge, Well-Educated and Good Manner) Lecture Program for the Nation itself is an activity agenda from the Council of Professors of State Universities Legal Entities (MDGB-PTNBH).Lecturers are permanent professors with different materials.
USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin during a meeting with the USU Board of Professors (DGB) said the themes raised must be aligned with the program from the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology.
"As Minister Nadiem's focus is on the down-streaming of products produced by universities," said the Rector in his office, Friday (18/6/2021).
The Rector explained that universities in Incorporated Government University (PTN-BH) must also be able to synergize and collaborate with each other so that the quality and quality of higher education is getting better.
Responding to the rector's wish, the Chairperson of the USU DGB Prof. Dr. dr. Gontar Alamsyah Siregar SpPD, KGEH together with Secretary Prof. Dr. Tamrin, MSc. agreed that the scheduling of Bestari for the Nation's lectures would be filled with the theme of product down-streaming from USU Professors who are ready for production and have local wisdom.
"Wewillalsocommunicate at MDGB-PTNBH about collaboration opportunities as directed by the ministry and the USU rector," he said.
Prof. Gontar informed that the Bestari Lectures for the Nation series had previously been held online with professors from ITB in February and IPB in March.
April is filled with UGM, UI in May, UPI in June, while USU is scheduled for July 2021, followed by Unair, Unpad, Undip, Unhas and closed by ITS.
USU Professor Council (DGB) member Prof. Robert Sibarani, MS stated his readiness to fill a lecture representing USU DGB with other professors who have local wisdom products.Hehimself said he would bring downstream products from Ulos local wisdom.
"I produce these Ulos and provide economic value to the local community," said Prof. Robert, who at the meeting wore a hat, mask and shirt patterned with the typical Batak fabric,namely Ulos. Also attending the meeting with the rectors were Prof. Subhilhar, PhD and Prof. Dr. Basuki Wiryosentono, MS.
