The championship brought together 674 participants representing various contingents from North Sumatra and Aceh, with USU sending a team of 10 athletes. The competition is regarded as one of the region's most prestigious pencak silat events, serving as a preparatory stage for the Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) and as part of the athlete development pathway toward the National Sports Week (PON), which will be held in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
At the tournament, the USU contingent secured one gold medal, four silver medals, and two bronze medals. In addition, one of USU's female athletes received the prestigious Best Female Fighter award in recognition of her exceptional performance throughout the competition.
The Director of Student Affairs and Alumni at USU, Prof. Dr. Agus Purwoko, S.Hut., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the university's pencak silat athletes. He reaffirmed the University's commitment to supporting and facilitating both academic and non-academic student activities.
"We congratulate all of our athletes for bringing pride to Universitas Sumatera Utara through their achievements. This accomplishment reflects the fighting spirit, discipline, and competitiveness of USU students," said Prof. Agus.

These achievements demonstrate that USU students are capable of excelling in non-academic fields through hard work, discipline, and a strong spirit of sportsmanship. They also reflect the success of the University's continuous efforts in developing student sports.
Meanwhile, Pencak Silat coach Redha Azmi Kamal, S.E., M.Si., explained that the team's motto, "Defeat is a disgrace," serves as the foundation of its training philosophy. According to him, the athletes undergo consistent training with discipline and determination to achieve the best possible results.
