The inauguration ceremony was held at the building’s grounds and attended by USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., and the Vice Rectors.

“I am delighted and grateful for completing the Library and Information Science Program building at FIB USU. This building is expected to meet and support all infrastructure needs, and I hope that the program's performance, productivity, and achievements in fulfilling its tri dharma duties will continue to improve,” he said.

The Rector also emphasized the importance of the Library and Information Science Program as a strategic center for knowledge development amid the complexity of the digital information world. According to him, the new building is not merely an addition to physical infrastructure but a symbol of the university’s commitment to building an adaptive, collaborative, and digitally transformative learning ecosystem.

“The existence of the Library and Information Science Program is strategically important as a guardian of civilization through digital literacy, information, and reading culture. Therefore, this new building is not merely an addition to physical facilities; it is a symbol of the university's commitment to fully supporting the development of programs relevant to the needs of the times,” he added.

Dean of FIB USU Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., in her remarks stated that the construction process of this building resulted from hard work and collaboration among many parties that had undergone a lengthy process since 2015. She also revealed that the Library and Information Science Program is currently preparing for the accreditation process. The presence of this new building is expected to serve as one of the supporting factors in evaluating and strengthening the commitment to excellence in education.

“Today marks the culmination of a long journey filled with struggle and dedication, since the proposal for this building’s construction was submitted in 2015. Additionally, the Library Studies program is currently undergoing the accreditation process. Hopefully, with this building, it will serve as a support for field assessments, ensuring the program continues to receive excellent accreditation,” she stated.

The Head of the Library and Information Science Program, Drs. Dirmansyah M.A., stated that the new building is an important part of efforts to develop academic knowledge. The facilities and infrastructure now available are considered highly supportive of implementing the three pillars of higher education, including teaching, research, and community service.

“As part of academic development, the availability of facilities and infrastructure will greatly assist the program in fulfilling its role, particularly in teaching, research, and community service, thereby contributing to the overall academic development within the Faculty of Letters,” he added.

Furthermore, Drs. Dirmansyah M.A. mentioned that the new building has modern facilities such as administrative offices, faculty rooms, meeting rooms, and classrooms that support the teaching and learning process and student services. The availability of these representative facilities is expected to enhance the performance of faculty members and students, thereby enabling the learning outcomes achieved to provide broader benefits, both within the academic environment and within the community.

“There are complete facilities for academic programs to function effectively, particularly administrative facilities, faculty offices, meeting rooms, and classrooms, all equipped with modern facilities that support teaching and learning processes and student services. We hope that these good facilities will enhance the performance of faculty members and students, so that future learning outcomes can be more beneficial,” he added.
