“Digital transformation requires not only the adoption of technology, but also innovation, collaboration, and continuous research. ICCAI serves as an important platform to address these challenges,” explained Prof. Poppy.
HUMAS USU – The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (Fasilkom-TI) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) successfully held *The 7th International Conference on Computing and Applied Informatics (ICCAI) 2025*. This year’s international conference carried the theme *“Emerging Research in Computer Science and Information Technology in Digital Transformation”* and took place at the USU DLCB building on Tuesday (16/9/2025).
ICCAI 2025 featured three keynote speakers: Dr. Partha Pakray from the National Institute of Technology Silchar (India), Dr. Muhammad Fermi Pasha from Monash University Malaysia, and Prof. Poltak Sihombing from Universitas Sumatera Utara.
In her opening remarks, USU Vice Rector III, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Z. Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., expressed her appreciation to Fasilkom-TI for consistently organizing ICCAI up to its seventh year. She emphasized that the conference serves as a strategic forum to exchange ideas, explore the latest research, and strengthen international networks.
“Digital transformation requires not only the adoption of technology, but also innovation, collaboration, and continuous research. ICCAI serves as an important platform to address these challenges,” she said.
Dean of Fasilkom-TI USU, Dr. Maya Silvi Lydia, B.Sc., M.Sc., explained that this year marked the first time ICCAI collaborated with IEEE as the proceedings publisher. This achievement makes the conference more prestigious and opens wider opportunities for international research collaboration with universities around the world.
“In the future, ICCAI is expected to be organized in collaboration with partner universities as co-hosts, further strengthening global research networks,” she noted.
Meanwhile, ICCAI 2025 General Chair, Dr. T. Henny Febriana Harumy, S.Kom., M.Kom., added that this year’s committee received 257 papers from 13 countries, including Ireland, India, Malaysia, and Algeria. Of these, 86 papers were successfully selected for publication through IEEE.
“The research fields highlighted include machine learning, artificial intelligence, software engineering, and natural language processing. We hope ICCAI continues to be a platform where impactful and innovative research emerges at a global scale,” she explained.
With consistent implementation since 2015, ICCAI has established USU as a hub for knowledge exchange and international collaboration in computer science and information technology. Through this forum, USU continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to supporting digital transformation and enhancing the nation’s competitiveness in the global era.
