Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held the 2026 PEKSIMA Awarding Ceremony to recognize outstanding student artists and select the university's representatives for the 2026 Regional and National Student Art Week competitions.
HUMAS USU – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) successfully held the Awarding Ceremony for the 2026 University-Level Student Art Week (PEKSIMA) on Tuesday (23/06/2026) at the Student Center Building.
The event marked the culmination of the selection process to determine the students who will represent USU at the Regional Student Art Week (Peksimida) and the National Student Art Week (Peksiminas).
Director of Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Purwoko, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU., stated that PEKSIMA is part of USU’s commitment to encouraging student achievement while fostering creativity and excellence among its students.
According to him, the selected winners will continue their journey at the regional and national levels. Therefore, the development of students’ artistic talents will continue to be strengthened to enable them to compete successfully and bring honor to USU.
“The primary purpose of PEKSIMA is to foster a spirit of creativity among all students so they can create meaningful changes that have a positive impact,” said Prof. Agus.
Member of the Jury Panel, Hafiza Adlina, S.AB., M.AB., explained that the evaluation process was conducted objectively, professionally, and independently in accordance with the Peksiminas guidelines. The assessment covered technical skills, creativity, originality of the work, mastery of the material, and participants’ overall performance.
Based on the evaluation results, the first-place winners in each competition category were recommended to represent USU at the 2026 Peksimida and Peksiminas competitions.
“The first-place winners in each competition category are recommended to represent Universitas Sumatera Utara at the 2026 Peksimida and Peksiminas in accordance with the applicable regulations,” she explained.
One of the award recipients, Khairul Zidan, who won first place in the Men's Poetry Reading category, expressed his gratitude for the achievement. He shared that his success was the result of intensive training after having been away from poetry competitions since his school years.
