USU Free PCR Swab Facility Prepares 500-1,000 Tests Per Day

In this free PCR Swab service, the implementing party has prepared 500-1,000 PCR swab tests daily. "We hope that this PCR SWAB test can reduce and prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in North Sumatra, especially in the university environment," said Dr. Edy Ikhsan.
Public Relations USU - Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is facilitating free PCR swabs for students participating in the COVID-19 vaccination and the academic community, which is carried out at the Pancasila Building. The implementation of the PCR swab was carried out by the Microbiology Laboratory of the USU Faculty of Medicine from September 29 to October 8, 2021.
Vice Rector I, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A when reviewing the implementation of the free PCR swab said that this activity is a form of social service carried out by USU which is also part of USU's 69th Anniversary and the Anniversary of the USU Faculty of Medicine.
"We hope that this is part of a social service that can help facilitate the context of PCR," said Dr. Edy Ikhsan.

The head of the COVID-19 Microbiology PCR Laboratory at FK USU, Dr. R. Lia Kusumawati Iswara, MBiomed, SpMK(K), PhD, explained that an identity card is required to do this free PCR swab. The NIK data from the ID card will be directly inputted into the AllRecord account, which is directly connected to the Population and Civil Registration Service.
Dr. Lia Iswara explained that the PCR swab results will be available within 1x24 hours and can be viewed on the PeduliLindungi website. "The results will be available within 1x24 hours, and the swab results are in accordance with national reporting standards; the public can see the results directly through the PeduliLindungi website, the official website for screening," he explained.
The results of this PCR swab can later be used for screening for various purposes, such as flights. "But of course, flights have a time limit of 2x24 hours for these PCR swab results," added Dr. Lia Iswara.
Dr. Lia Iswara added that her party has been providing free PCR Swab services to the people of North Sumatra since May 2020.
