HUMAS - The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) celebrates its 70th anniversary. The activity began with a Fun Walk which was opened by USU's Vice Rector II for Human Resources and Finance Muhammad Arifin, S.Sos., M.SP at FK USU on Sunday (09/11/2022).

In his remarks, WR II said that USU's FK was the forerunner to the founding of USU, so that at the age of 70, USU's FK is expected to be able to become a leading faculty within USU. Both in terms of achievement, improving the quality of alumni, as well as in planning and developing organizational governance that it carries out.

"With that age, of course, USU's FK is expected to be a leading faculty within USU. Both in terms of achievement, improving the quality of alumni, as well as in planning and developing organizational governance that is carried out," said Vice Rector II USU.

Muhammad Arifin, S.Sos., M.SP hopes that the Fun Walk and Bazaar held by the USU Medical Faculty in celebration of the 70th Anniversary can strengthen the relationship between the USU Faculty of Medicine academic community and the USU academic community.

"Hopefully the fun walk and bazaar held today can strengthen the relationship between us, the academic community of the USU Faculty of Medicine and the entire academic community of the Universitas Sumatera Utara," he said.

USU's FK Dean, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K) on the sidelines of the celebration said, at the age of 70, USU Medical Faculty must be ready to develop rapidly to become one of the leading medical faculties in Indonesia and ready to advance internationally.

According to Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K) this celebration of the USU FK is an activity of joy and togetherness for the USU FK academic community and increases intimacy and becomes a place to strengthen the relationship between the USU FK academic community.

"Today's activity is an activity of joy and excitement for the USU FK academic community, the committee has prepared today's activity very well so that it can run very well and is very lively, adds to the familiarity and establishes a close relationship between the USU FK academic community," said the Dean USU Faculty of Medicine.

The Dean of USU's FK has high hopes that USU's FK will become a leading medical faculty in the Southeast Asian region and become one of the most respected in the world.

"My dream is to become one of the leading FKs not only in Indonesia but at least in the Southeast Asia region and if possible to become one of the most respected FKs in the world," he added.

At the 70th Anniversary of USU Medical Faculty, the theme raised was to pay attention to women's health. The chairman of the USU Medical Faculty's anniversary committee, Dr. dr. Johny Marpaung M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG(K) said that this was due to the high maternal mortality rate in Indonesia, so that one of the goals of the theme was to reduce the number. Therefore, the activities that have been arranged for this celebration are related to health, one of which is blood donation.

There are many interesting things at the 70th anniversary celebration of USU Medical Faculty, apart from health-related activities such as Fun Walk and blood donation, there are also a number of entertainment activities including FK IDOL, Fashion Show, and Bazaar. The bazaars that line the USU Medical Faculty page sell a variety of products, starting from food, clothing, technology, and others. All of these activities were participated by alumni and the USU FK academic community. (©ULC)
