USU Faculty of Medicine Awards 10 New Medical Specialists with Specialist Expertise Certificates

“One day, you will become a medical specialist who is not only competent in the clinical field but also visionary and solution-oriented toward the nation's health problems,” hoped Prof. Fidel.
HUMAS USU - The Study Program of Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sumatera Utara, held a Handover of Specialist Expertise Certificates and an Introduction of Participants of the Medical Specialist Education Program (PPDS) at the Grand Ballroom, 3rd floor, Adimulia Hotel, on Tuesday (26/08/2025). The event inaugurated 10 new medical specialists and welcomed 8 new PPDS students of the USU Faculty of Medicine.
Representing the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.F.E.R, FICS., as the USU Secretary, appreciated the 10 new medical specialists who received specialist expertise certificates today for their commitment to completing a long journey of learning and training. According to him, this inauguration is a form of anesthesiologists' commitment to continue learning and serving humanity.
“This moment of awarding the Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy Specialist Expertise Certificates from the USU Faculty of Medicine is a symbol of the anesthesiologists' commitment to continue to learn and develop,” he said.
Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.F.E.R, FICS., also congratulated the 8 new Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy PPDS participants who have just joined the USU Faculty of Medicine. He hoped that in addition to focusing on academics, the new PPDS participants would also continue to develop themselves in research, innovation, and community service. He emphasized that in becoming a medical specialist, it is also important to be visionary and solution-oriented towards the nation's health problems.
“One day, you will become a medical specialist who is not only competent in the clinical field but also visionary and solution-oriented toward the nation's health problems,” he hoped.
The Head of the Anesthesiology Department, Dr. dr. Cut Meliza Zainumi, M.Ked(An), Sp.An-TI, said that this inauguration moment is a new beginning for the new medical specialists, as well as a reminder to always be trustworthy and earnest in carrying out their duties. She emphasized that the knowledge gained should always be used in accordance with professional ethics.
“Hopefully, we can be earnest and trustworthy in carrying out our duties,” she said.
The Head of the Anesthesiology Study Program, dr. Andriamuri Primaputra Lubis, Sp.An-TI, M.Ked(an), Subsp.TI(K), FISQua, conveyed his hope that the new medical specialists would be able to improve public health services, especially in North Sumatra. He also said that in the August 2025 PPDS admission at the USU Faculty of Medicine, of the 12 students, 2 came from Nias who were PPDS students via the affirmative action channel from the USU cooperation program with the North Sumatra Provincial Government.
“We have high hopes that you can help improve community services,” he hoped.
dr. Andriamuri Primaputra Lubis, Sp.An-TI, M.Ked(an), Subsp.TI(K), FISQua, explained that the USU Faculty of Medicine is currently establishing international cooperation with the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. The USU Faculty of Medicine is sending PPDS participants as observers to the ICU of the University of Malaya Medical Centre.
“The USU Faculty of Medicine has established international cooperation with the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Malaya, Malaysia,” he said.
The Dean of the USU Faculty of Medicine, Vice Dean I of the USU Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Delyuzar, M.Ked(PA), Sp.PA(K), mentioned that Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy specialists are being given special attention by the government and are one of the most needed specialists in hospitals. Therefore, the USU Faculty of Medicine will proudly establish a Subspecialist in Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy.
“The USU Faculty of Medicine will establish a Subspecialist in Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy which is very much needed to educate anesthesiology specialists,” he said.
Referring to the content of the doctor's oath, the Representative of the Indonesian Doctors Association, North Sumatra Region, Dr. dr. Ery Suhaymi, SH, MH, M.Ked(Surg), Sp. B, FINACS, FICS., reminded the medical specialists that in practicing medicine, all doctors are one and are fellow colleagues.
“This serves as a reminder that in carrying out our medical profession, we are one and are fellow colleagues,” he reminded.
The President Director of Adam Malik Hospital of the Ministry of Health in Medan, represented by Drs. Sudarto, MM., as the Director of Financial Planning and Operational Services, said that this event is proof that the newly appointed medical specialists have competent expertise within the scope of the health profession. He emphasized that with the many urgencies and issues related to anesthesiology and intensive therapy, it is hoped that the new medical specialists will not forget their professional responsibilities and the demands for effective medical contributions.
“I remind you that out there we still face urgencies and issues related to anesthesiology and intensive therapy,” he said.
The parent of dr. Muhammad Ivanny Andani, M.Ked(An), Sp.An-TI., namely Ir. H. Alberuni S Andani, MSc., representing the parents, expressed his gratitude to all parties who have provided support, namely the USU Rector and the dean and their staff, the Anesthesiology specialist lecturers, and the entire academic community. He reminded the new medical specialists to always maintain the good name of their family and USU, as well as to maintain professionalism.
“Maintain the good name of your family and the campus’s image,” he said.
