HUMAS - Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an international seminar by inviting Arun V. Ravindran, Md, Phd, FR CPC as a speaker. Opened by the Dean of USU's FK Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe Sp.S(K), The seminar took place in the USU Medical Faculty Hall on Monday (09/19/2022). This seminar is part of one of the guest lecture activities related to world class professors.
Head of USU's FK Psychiatry Study Program Prof, Dr. dr. Elmeida Effendy, MKed, Sp KJ (K) said that the public lecture by inviting guest lecturers coincided with the goal of collaboration in research, education, and community service. So that it plays a role in increasing USU's ranking.
"Later, we want the goal to be good cooperation in educational research as well as community service," said Prof. Elmeida.
The head of USU's FK Psychiatry Study Program hopes that FK can often hold guest lectures by bringing in experts from abroad. FK, which this year is known to have brought in 7 guest lecturers, still wants to improve this. In addition, after the visits of guest lecturers, it can continue on the exchange program for lecturers or students to conduct research and community service.
“We often invite guest lectures, especially the expertises from abroad. This year, we from FK have brought in 7 guest lecturers from outside USU, but we still want to improve, especially those from abroad,” he said.
On the same occasion, Arun V. Ravindran, Md, Phd, FR CPC, the presenter of the guest lecture, explained the important points in his material. Arun V. Ravindran, Md, Phd, FR CPC highlighted the task of psychiatrists or those working in health services to ensure that young people can take good care of their mental health and provide protection in this regard.
"The most important point in my opinion, is our duty, but includes those who work in health services to ensure that young people can take care of their mental health," explained Arun.
According to Arun V Ravindran, Md, Phd, FR, CPC, the participants of the international seminar for the USU FK Psychiatry study program had extraordinary enthusiasm, besides that USU FK was considered very capable of providing the best medical education to students.
Arun V. Ravindran, Md, Phd, FR CPC said that there is social value in teaching medicine to students and the future so that academics at USU Medical Faculty can still try it because students need to study medicine and have good social awareness.
"Please try and there is still social value in teaching medicine to students and in the future, they need to study medicine and have good social awareness," he said.
