The Student Government of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held the Scripta Research Festival (SRF) 2024 from January 25 to 28, 2024. Scripta Research Festival (SRF) 2024 is a work program of the SME Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE), which is held annually with the aim of creating and supporting the formation of a scientific climate among medical students throughout Indonesia.

SRF 2024 took the theme “Exploring Research and Advancements in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology as Preventive and Treatment Measures to Ensure Children Grow Up Healthy and Disease-free” and was attended by 88 finalists representing 14 universities throughout Indonesia. SRF presented several competitions, such as Scientific Essay, Literature Review, Public Poster and Oral Presentation.

The symposium was one of the activities ahead of the closing of the FK USU SRF, which was held at the USU Faculty of Medicine Hall on Saturday (27/01/2024). The activity was opened by the Dean of FK USU, Prof. Dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S (K). The national symposium was filled by several speakers, including Vice Dean III FK USU dr Inke Nadia Diniyanti Lubis, M.Ked (Ped), Sp (A), Ph.D, Prof dr Ayodhia Pitaloka Pasaribu, M.Ked (Ped), Sp (A) K, Ph.D (Clin.Trop.Med), dr Rita Evalina, M.Ked (Ped), Sp A (K), Dr rer medic, dr M Ichwan, M.Sc, Sp KKLP, Sunsp, FOMC, etc.

In his speech, Prof. Aldy expressed his great hope that the implementation of SRF can continue in the coming years and be attended by more participants from various medical faculties in Indonesia.

“Through various competitions held in the 11th SRF, it is hoped that it will be able to increase the spirit of research that already exists among medical students throughout Indonesia. The more universities that send participants for this SRF, the more the best works are expected to be collected. SRF is a positive activity that will provide opportunities for new innovations to surface,” said Prof. Aldy.

The Universitas Sumatera Utara delegation consisting of Hafiz Fauzi, Maria Putri Lestari Zai and Silvia Siola won 1st place in the public poster competition category. Meanwhile, Hashfi Syihan Nasution, Fatma Sri Agustina Hutasuhut and Yuni Harun Marsella won third place in the same category.

The SRF 2024 committee, which was formed in August 2023, is chaired by Muhammad Hafis Alhadi. The SRF 2024 committee consists of personnel and young staff of SCORE PEMA FK USU, as well as open recruitment for all FK USU students in 2021, 2022, and 2023. The last day of the SRF was filled with a tour of Lake Toba. (RJ)
