Universitas Sumatera Utara organized an Academic Rank Promotion Assistance Program to support lecturers in preparing and submitting promotion applications through the SISTER system. The initiative provided technical guidance and regulatory updates to help ensure a more effective, structured, and compliant promotion process.
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) conducted an Academic Rank Promotion Assistance Program for Lecturers (Jabatan Akademik Dosen/JAD) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Hall on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.
The program was designed to support lecturers in the process of applying for academic rank promotions through the SISTER system by ensuring that all administrative and academic requirements are completed in accordance with applicable regulations.
During the event, Joko Susilo, S.Kom., M.Kom., Secretary of the USU Directorate of Human Resources, explained that the activity was intended to assist lecturers in preparing their promotion applications, particularly in fulfilling the required documentation.
“The academic rank promotion process involves several stages, starting from research proposal submission to evaluation by assessors. After the assessment process, all supporting documents for lecturers seeking promotion can be submitted in accordance with the applicable regulations,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Khoirunnas Simangunsong, S.Kom., Human Resources Bureau staff member at USU, explained that the assistance was provided through technical guidance on document preparation and compliance with the latest regulations. He added that the academic promotion process refers to Ministerial Decree (Kepmen) No. 39 of 2026, which outlines the requirements for each academic rank, from Lecturer (Lektor) to Professor (Guru Besar).
“In addition to providing an understanding of Ministerial Regulation No. 52 and Ministerial Decree No. 39 of 2026, we also assist lecturers with administrative processes and coordination, both directly and through online communication channels, to ensure that all requirements can be fulfilled properly,” he explained.
Through this program, USU hopes that the academic rank promotion process for lecturers can be carried out more effectively, systematically, and in full compliance with current regulations.
