ULT USU Benchmarking to NTU Singapore

NTU itself is a university of international reputation and is currently ranked 36 in the Time Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) and is known for its professional and optimal academic services. This benchmarking is also part of supporting USU strategic plan in the internationalization program as directed by USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin.
USU PR - Creating professional services within the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), the Integrated Service Unit (ULT) which is at the forefront in providing services to the academic community by benchmarking to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore on October 12 to 15, 2022.
Head of USU ULT drg Siti Salmiah Sp KGA during her visit accompanied by Ika Dama Yanti Nasution, SS, M.Si., and Nabilah Adzhani, SIKom., MIkom., explained that benchmarking was carried out at the best universities in Singapore to see how their services were implemented to students in order to improve services at USU towards internationalization.

"What NTU does in providing academic services to students and guests who come is an inspiration for us (USU) to apply. ULT learns a lot from this benchmarking, with the hope that academic services at USU can be more professional, transparent and accountable," Siti Salmiah said in her statement on Saturday (10/15/2022).
She explained that the USU ULT delegation was also given the opportunity by NTU to visit the one stop @ SAC NTU service and see firsthand how the service staff works, the mechanism, the flow to the comfort of the service room which makes the academic climate at NTU feel pleasant.
NTU Vice President in charge of International Cooperation, Professor Tim White welcomed the visit of USU ULT and hoped that the cooperation could be extended to other academic fields.
During the benchmarking event at NTU Singapore, the USU ULT delegation also facilitated a hybrid meeting which was attended by USU Secretary Prof. Fidel Ganis Siregar and Director of the International Directorate and Global Cooperation Prof. Himsar Ambarita.
Professor Tim White said that cooperation with USU would be beneficial for both parties. "A deeper collaboration will certainly have an impact on these two institutions and thank you to USU for sending a delegation to visit NTU," he said.
Secretary of the University, Prof Fidel Ganis Siregar hopes that USU's ULT visit to NTU would make services at USU better than before. Prof Fidel welcomes the benchmarking activity with internationally reputed universities because it is in line with USU internationalization program.
"Regarding the internationalization program which is the concern of USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, USU also hopes to cooperate with NTU not only in service programs but also in research programs, student and lecturer exchanges," he said.
Prof Himsar explained that NTU has advanced technology, while USU has natural resources. "So of course this is a mutually beneficial cooperation," he mentioned.
After holding a hybrid meeting, the USU ULT Team was also invited to tour the NTU campus facilities with the Indonesian Student of Nanyang Technological University (PINTU) team.
In addition, the USU ULT Team also made a time to visit the National University of Singapore (NUS) to see the service facilities on its campus. (©ULC)
