ELTICOM provides students with opportunities to expand their networks by connecting with researchers and students from various institutions.
USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held The 10th International Conference on Electrical, Telecommunication and Computer Engineering (ELTICOM) 2026 on Thursday (November 5, 2026). Held at the USU Faculty of Engineering Auditorium, this international conference served as a platform for knowledge exchange, research development, and the strengthening of academic collaboration in electrical engineering, telecommunications, and computer engineering.
USU Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., stated that international conferences provide students with opportunities to develop their capabilities and contribute to research. According to him, ELTICOM offers students the opportunity to expand their networks by connecting with researchers and students from various institutions.
“USU certainly expects its students to be pioneers, not merely spectators. One way to achieve this is through international conferences such as this one. We hope students will also take an active role in this conference, allowing them to expand their networks beyond fellow USU students to include students from other institutions,” he said.
Furthermore, he explained that ELTICOM has a distinct advantage because it is affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), one of the internationally recognized professional associations. He expressed his hope that ELTICOM would continue to develop as a platform for researchers to share their research findings in their respective fields of expertise.
“ELTICOM is unique because, since its establishment, it has been directly affiliated with one of the world's well-known professional associations, namely IEEE. We hope that this conference will continue to receive our support, be sustained, and expand through partnerships with other universities,” he stated.

USU Faculty of Engineering Vice Dean III for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Zaid Perdana Nasution, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., stated that hosting an international conference is an important part of supporting research and innovation development within the Faculty of Engineering. He hoped the event would encourage the academic community to continue producing relevant research with global competitiveness.
“Through ELTICOM 2026, we hope that academics and students will become increasingly motivated to develop their research and expand collaboration with various international institutions,” he explained.
Chair of the ELTICOM 2026 Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPU., ASEAN Eng., SMIEEE, also expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed to organizing the conference. Now in its 10th year, ELTICOM demonstrates a sustained commitment to providing an international scientific forum for academics and researchers in the field of technology.
“Entering its 10th edition, ELTICOM demonstrates our continued commitment to providing an international scientific forum. We hope this conference will remain a platform for researchers to share knowledge and develop innovations in technology,” he said.
Through ELTICOM 2026, USU is expected to further strengthen its position as a higher education institution committed to advancing research and innovation with international competitiveness. The conference is also expected to serve as a platform for sustained collaboration among academics, students, and researchers in generating tangible contributions to technological advancement.
