HUMAS USU - The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a series of top activities from the 61st Anniversary of the USU Faculty of Dentistry with the theme "Health Together Smile Together", namely a One-Day Seminar at the USU Student Center on Thursday, (11/03/2022).

The Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si said that this commemoration was a momentum to encourage enthusiasm and inspiration for the Faculty of Dentistry to be better through substantive transformation.

"At the age of 61, in commemoration of this moment, we can provide a lot of inspiration so that USU's FKG can become better," the Rector said.

Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Essie Octiara, drg, SpKGA explained, several challenges will continue to be improved in order to build the Faculty of Dentistry to obtain better accreditation, such as in terms of infrastructure and education.

"Well, in the future, maybe the facilities will be improved and then hopefully there will be additional facilities, have external education of USU FKG so that professional students who are piled up can be spread to existing places," the dean mentioned.

Director of the Dental and Oral Hospital at the Universitas Sumatera Utara Rahmi Syaflida Dalimunthe, drg., Sp.BM(K) also thanked the rectorate for their support towards better accreditation by increasing the construction of the USU Dental and Oral Hospital building.

"From RSGM we fully support dentistry education and we try to take various steps to improve facilities and infrastructure. Thank God, the rectorate has facilitated the construction of a new RSGM building. This year we are also trying to build an inpatient room and operating room to facilitate education," she said.

Chairperson of the Committee for the 61st Anniversary of the USU Faculty of Dentistry Ranu Putra Armidin, drg, MKM hopes that through the peak activities of the Faculty of Dentistry Anniversary, the establishment of friendship between USU Faculty of Dentistry academics and alumni to jointly create a Faculty of Dentistry that is growing, united and tough.

"With this momentum, we also want to actually knit back a series of activities aimed at great togetherness," he explained.

He explained that the series would not stop at one day seminar activities, there would be other USU FKG Anniversary series such as social services, bazaars, and fun walks. (©ULC)
