MEDAN-USU PR: The 34th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) which was held from October 25 to 29, 2021, has ended, with the climax of the event being held lively and sparkling by the Universitas Sumatera Utara as the host. The national event gave glory to Gajah Mada University (UGM) as the overall champion who won the 34th PIMNAS rotating trophy. Meanwhile, the second place was won by the Bogor Agricultural University and the third place was won by the Ten November Institute of Technology.

The Universitas Sumatera Utara itself won one bronze and two favorite winners in the competition. The bronze equivalent award was won by Sindi Elisa Tanjung in the PKMRE-2 class with the work "Censoring Properties of Nanosheet Film Anthocyanin Extracts of Bit/Graphyene/PVA Fruit as Chemosensors for Early Diagnosis of Lung Cancer through Blowing Breathing." While the favorite winner was Muhammad Atqa Adzkia Zaldi in the PKM KC-4 class with the work "Smart Wheel Chair to Improve Mobility for the Blind with Ultrasonic Sensors and Thermometers as Application of Health Protocols during a Pandemic" and in the PKMRE-5 class Nikayati with the work "Solar paint: “Perovskite/Ti02 Integrated Paint from Used Batteries with Spray-Coating Method as a Renewable Energy Solution” also won the favorite prize.

In his remarks, USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, expressed his gratitude to all parties who have supported the implementation of the 34th PIMNAS, in particular to the ranks at the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Director General of Puspresnas, the Belmawa Directorate, the North Sumatra Provincial Government, the Medan City Government and the sponsors so that the competition can run well and successfully without any obstacles. The USU Rector also congratulated all the winners and hoped that those who had not won would not be discouraged, but would continue to strive to improve themselves to be even better in the future.

Chairman of 34th PIMNAS, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, SH, MA, in his remarks reported that the 34th PIMNAS which started since October 25 was filled with a number of activities that had been carried out, including a friendly night on October 25, 2021 at Maimoon Palace, where the delegates of the jury were asked to attend a friendly evening with the family of the Sultan of Deli at the Maimoon Palace wearing traditional Malay clothes. Opening ceremony on October 26, 2021 at USU Administrative Bureau Courtyard which was attended by 200 invited guests, judging for presentations held for 2 days from October 27-28 2021 at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology and the Faculty of Dentistry USU, judging posters in the Building USU Pancasila, a meeting on October 29, 2021 with the vice Rectors and directors of student affairs at the USU Auditorium and a public lecture on October 29, 2021 which presented the Secretary of the Health Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. drs Nana Mulyana, M.Kes.

Edy also added that the judging of presentations had been carried out well in 18 rooms of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology and 17 rooms of the Faculty of Dentistry. This judging activity is carried out online and broadcast live through the USU Official Youtube channel. All activities are supported by an internet network that reaches more than 800 Mbps to facilitate the entire online judging process. The poster judging activity also went well and smoothly at the Pancasila Building, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Posters by the 34th PIMNAS participants were presented in an exhibition as many as 735 posters. The judging process can also be watched live via USU's official YouTube streaming channel. The poster exhibition was also witnessed by a number of high school students and students from USU friendly universities in Medan City.

The closing night of the 34th PIMNAS was attended online, among others, by officials at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Puspresnas and Belmawa and the Rectors of PTN/PTS Participants of the 34th PIMNAS throughout Indonesia, and offline attendance, including Acting Head of the National Achievement Center Asep Sukmayadi, S. IP, M.Si and the ranks, delegates of the 34th PIMNAS jury, Forkopimda of North Sumatra and Medan, and also enlivened by the presence of the capital's rising singer, Pamungkas, who is known and soared with his song "To The Bone".(RJ/©ULC)
