USU PR - The Faculty of Agriculture (FP) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held the closing of the Summer Course Program with the theme “The 2nd Talenta Agricultural Summer Course 2023” in a hybrid manner at FP USU, Tuesday (1/08/2023).
Vice Dean III FP USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., as chairman of the committee explained that the Summer Course activities went according to plan. All speakers attended a series of activities and the participants actively participated in lectures.
“All keynote speakers were present, and the participants were also very interactive in the lecture activities,” she explained.
After the lecture session, the participants participated in a three-day field trip (July 29-31) to places in North Sumatra, such as PT. Bibit Baru in Brastagi and Tomok Village on Samosir Island.
“Then followed by a 3-day field trip July 29-31 to PT. Bibit Baru Brastagi, to Samosir.” he said.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si. mentioned that there were 9 foreign universities that participated in this activity, including Malaysia, Nigeria, and Japan. She added that out of 244 participants, there were 20 participants who attended in person.
“There are 244 participants in total, there are 20 people offline,” she said.
The Head of the Agrotechnology Study Program, Dr. Nini Rahmawati SP., M.Si., hopes that this activity can be a memorable and useful experience for the participants so that it can increase the interest of prospective participants in the following year.
“Hopefully, the wonderful experiences gained by foreign participants can be brought to their respective countries and attract interest from other participants,” she said.
Head of the Food Technology Study Program, Mimi Nurminah S.TP.., M.Si., said that through the Summer Course activities, Indonesian culture can be known and spread throughout the world.
“Hopefully, with this Summer Course, Indonesian culture can be spread throughout the world,” she said.
Dr. Taufik Rizaldi S.TP., M.P., Head of the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Study Program, also expressed his hope that future activities could introduce domestic culture and technology.
“In the future, we can introduce culture and technology to other students, especially to foreign participants,” he said.
