Hathaichanok Riddhagni Frumau selaku Menteri dan Wakil Kepala Perwakilan Kedutaan Besar Kerajaan Thailand di Jakarta menjelaskan bahwa kerja sama antara Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) dan universitas-universitas di Thailand akan memberikan manfaat besar bagi mahasiswa dari kedua negara. Hal ini mengingat USU merupakan salah satu universitas terkemuka di Sumatera Utara, khususnya di Kota Medan.
The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., received a courtesy visit from the Royal Thai Embassy at the Rector’s Audience Room, USU, on Thursday (February 12, 2026).
Hathaichanok Riddhagni Frumau, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta, explained that collaboration between USU and universities in Thailand would bring significant benefits to students from both countries. This is particularly relevant as USU is recognized as one of the leading universities in North Sumatra, especially in Medan.
Currently, around 800 Thai students are studying in Indonesia, with 48 of them based in Medan. Hathaichanok Riddhagni Frumau highlighted that Medan’s cultural diversity adds value to the experience of Thai students. As a result, students not only gain academic knowledge but also meaningful cultural experiences during their studies.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ir. Martono Anggusti, S.H., M.M., M.Hum., Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Thailand for North Sumatra, Riau, and the Riau Islands, expressed hope that Indonesian students—particularly those from USU—would have the opportunity to visit and study in Thailand. He also emphasized that sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and several other fields in Thailand have developed rapidly and maintain high standards.
