USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – MEDAN: The Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., received the Pancawarsa III Adult Award (TPOD) from the North Sumatra Regional Quarter. The award was immediately pinned by the Governor of North Sumatra, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Edy Rahmayadi at the Commemoration of the 60th Scout Day, Tuesday (8/31/2021) at the Tengku Rizal Nurdin Hall, Medan.
The award was given for the achievements and dedication of the USU Rector in the world of scouting.Currently, Muryanto Amin also serves as a member of the Advisory Council for the Scout Movement Kwartir North Sumatra.In his statement, Muryanto Amin said the award was a motivation toimprove Scouting's work.
"Yes, this is a motivation for us to make more efforts for this scouting to develop, starting from elementary school to university level," said Muryanto.
He also emphasized that scout education must be instilled in the younger generation so that they have a good personality.With scout education, the younger generation can havea strong leadership figure.
"Scouting education is very important, and I hope that we can develop scouts at USU again, we adjust it to fit the structure and expectations and achievements that we are targeting, so as to create a young generation of character," the USU Rector said.
In line with this, the Governor of North Sumatra, Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Edy Rahmayadi who is also the Chair of the Supervisory Council for the North Sumatra Regional Kwartir Scout Movement, said that scouts are the future of the nation's children.He motivates the younger generation to participate in scouting activities.
"Scouting is the future of the nation's children.By joining scouts, you will create a personality that has a fighting spirit and sacrifice in life.Participating in scouts is very beneficial forone's personality," Edy said.
He regretted how scout education began to fade in the education of today's young generation.In fact, scouts are a reserve component owned by Indonesia.So the role of scouts in the sustainability of Indonesia is very important, according to him.
“Scouting is a reserve component of Indonesia, after the TNI and Polri.So if there is a war, for example, this boy scout is involved in the war.Therefore, we must re-encourage scouts in the education of our children," said the Governor of North Sumatra.
Edy also mentioned that he had submitted a suggestion to the National Scout Movement Quarter so that scouting education could be included in the curriculum and taught in every school.So that there are no more of young people not just wear scout uniforms, but they havea scouting attitude as well.
In addition to the USU Rector, several names also won TPOD including the North Sumatra Family Welfare and Empowerment Mobilization Team (PKK) Nawal Lubis, Medan Mayor Bobby Afif Nasution, North Labuhan Batu Regent Hendriyanto Sitorus, Serdang Bedagai Regent Darma Wijaya, Medan State University Rector Dr. Syamsul Gultom, SKM, Mkes,Rector of the State Islamic Universitas Sumatera Utara Prof. Dr. Syahrin Harahap, MA, and Head of the North Sumatra Youth and Sports Service Ardan Noor Hasibuan.(RR/©ULC)
