USU Public Relations - USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., inaugurated the Tractor Monument and Laboratory of Biology and Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture (FP) North Sumatra University (USU) which was followed by a Focus Group Discussion entitled "Adaptation of Tridarma Tasks". This event was held on Wednesday (3/30/2022).

With this inauguration, the USU Rector hopes that the performance, productivity and achievements of study programs and faculties in carrying out the Tri Dharma tasks will also increase, especially considering that agriculture is one of the vital sectors of economic development and food security that supports development efforts and the welfare of this country.

"I welcome the completion of the renovation and construction of supporting buildings for lecture facilities at the USU FP," he said.

According to the Rector, a comfortable and fully equipped laboratory will give new enthusiasm for students and lecturers to think critically and innovatively.

"Thus, various important innovations that also have high economic value can be born through the biological laboratory and agricultural cultivation media owned by the Faculty of Agriculture," the Rector continued.

The Rector appreciated the USU Faculty of Agriculture, whose lecturers and students are in the active category for various research activities, which have produced many important innovation products that play a role in supporting the needs of the community.

"With the addition of this facility, hopefully the entire USU FP academic community can be more persistent and enthusiastic in carrying out their roles and responsibilities. Hopefully USU's FP can make a more significant contribution to society, nation and state," he said.

On this occasion, the Dean of USU's FP, Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS, hopes that the existence of this facility can fulfill and support all lecture activities at USU's FP.

The Tractor Monument was built with the aim of being a symbol and identity for the USU FP, which was made to commemorate the use of the first tractor in this faculty.

"This Tractor Monument symbolizes the spirit of how to carry out the tridarma task that has been reminded by the Rector, to renew the process because we have become a sociopreneur university, so lecturers must change their teaching methods according to the times," he said. (©ULC)
