“The construction of this building also symbolizes USU’s transformation towards more modern, inclusive, and globally-oriented services,” stated the USU Rector.
HUMAS USU – The USU Student Service Center - International Lounge Building was officially inaugurated by the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., in front of the building on Tuesday (09/09/2025).
Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin expressed his gratitude for the establishment of the USU Student Service Center – International Lounge, which represents USU’s commitment to providing the best services for the entire academic community as well as domestic and international partners. With a global orientation, this building embodies USU’s internationalization program and symbolizes the university’s service transformation towards being modern and inclusive. For this reason, he also extended his appreciation to all parties who contributed to its development.

On the same occasion, the Rector explained that the Student Service Center will serve as an integrated student service hub that provides guidance, information, and support throughout the academic journey. He further stated that the International Lounge will act as the showcase of USU’s internationalization, serving as a space for cross-cultural interaction, academic collaboration, and even educational diplomacy, helping to bring USU closer to becoming a World Class University.
“We designed this Student Service Center as an integrated student service hub,” he explained.
Head of the Integrated Services Unit (ULT), Amalia Meutia, M.Psi., Psychologist, ensured that the best services are available at the USU Student Service Center - International Lounge. She also noted that services will adopt digitalization to make them more accessible, fast, and transparent.
“And of course, the customer service staff here are equipped with knowledge and skills to provide excellent service,” she emphasized.
Prof. Dr. Rudy Sofyan, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the International Affairs Office, highlighted that the USU Student Service Center - International Lounge offers comprehensive services for both local and international students. He explained that international students can process immigration documents such as ITAS (Limited Stay Permit) and Student Visa at this center. For students requiring access to other USU services, such as the university polyclinic, the center also provides relevant information.
“The Student Service Center – International Lounge will be a comprehensive service hub for all students,” he stated.
In addition, the USU Student Service Center – International Lounge building is equipped with facilities including the Public Information Disclosure Office (PPID), Mental Health Services, and the unit for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS). Disability services, a lactation room, meeting rooms, and a play area are also available in the building.
