MEDAN – USU PUBLIC RELATION: The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is ready to host the 34th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) in 2021 and host 2,200 students from 100 universities in Indonesia who compete in the event. In addition, USU also promised postgraduate scholarships for USU students who won the 2021 PIMNAS gold and would be appointed as lecturers at USU.
This was stated by the Rector of USU, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., in front of a number of journalists from print, online and electronic media, at the 34th PIMNAS press conference, which took place online via zoom and offline at the lobby of the USU Central Administration Bureau on the second floor. 1, USU Padang Bulan Medan Campus, Thursday (9/16/2021).PIMNAS will be held online on 26-30 October 2021 with seven series of activities and the theme: "Towards a Golden Indonesia through Collaboration for Innovation in the Frame of Local Wisdom".
On that occasion, the USU Rector, Dr. Muryanto Amin launched the 34th PIMNAS mascot in the form of a Nias parrot named ITO.ITO is taken from "partuturan" in Batak customs which is a designation or call for men to women or vice versa of different sexes.ITO has a more special meaning, which is an acronym for Intelligent, Tough and Outstanding, each of which is fused in the appearance of the 34th PIMNAS mascot.During the event, the 34th PIMNAS official logo, website and Instagram were also launched.
Dr. Mury said that being the host of the 34th PIMNAS was an honor for USU;"USU can be the host because USU is believed to be capable."
He hopes that the implementation of PIMNAS will run smoothly and successfully until the end, and be able to encourage students in Indonesia to be more active in innovating.PIMNAS is a momentum to give birth to many young scientists whose work has an impact for the good of society and the nation.Dr Muryanto also hopes that USU's media partners can fully support the implementation of the 34th PIMNAS through positive publications.
Head of the 34th PIMNAS Daily Executive, Doli Muhammad Jafar Dalimunthe, SE, M.Si., said USU had prepared a series of events for the event, PIMNAS, namely a friendly event at the Maimoon Palace, the opening of PIMNAS in the courtyard of the USU Rector's Bureau, a poster exhibition in the building. USU's Pancasila and the planned public lecture will be filled by the Minister of SOEs, Erick Tohir as well as a judging and closing ceremony at the USU Auditorium.The Student Creativity Program (PKM) that is contested is in the fields of entrepreneurship, exact research, social humanities research, creative initiatives for the application of technology, community service, written ideas and constructive futuristic ideas which are held for the first time in PIMNAS.
"The estimated number of participants who will take part in PIMNAS 34 is approximately 2,200 students who will be mentored by 700 accompanying lecturers who attend online and 105 judges who are expected to attend offline," Doli said.
In the activity, which was guided by the Head of the Office of Public Relations, Protocol and Promotion, Amalia Meutia, M.Psi, the Psychologist, the 34th General Chairperson of PIMNAS was also present offline, who was also USU Vice Rector I Dr. Eddy Ikhsan, SH, MA, other USU vice Rectors, secretary rector , the Board of Trustees, the Academic Senate and the USU Board of Professors.While attending offline, the Director General of Higher Education Kemendikbudristek, Director of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) and a number of other Ministry of Education and Culture officials, Deans and Deputy Deans of Faculties, and others.
Chairman of the 34th PIMNAS, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, SH, MA said, PIMNAS was the last stage of the implementation of the Student Creativity Program (PKM) which became a forum for presenting and communicating with each other through intellectual creation products."This 34th PIMNAS activity has the full support of the Governor of North Sumatra and the Mayor of Medan.PIMNAS is a means to grow, accommodate, and realize students' creative and innovative ideas.Of the 2,200 PIMNAS participants, 36 participating students came from USU.Our target in this PIMNAS is to win gold medals in all activities that are contested.We are targeting the overall winner," he said.
PIMNAS is a PKM that was launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture and is a means of developing creativity for students who are entrepreneurial, cultured and innovative.Edy hopes that PIMNAS can boost USU's reputation at the national and international levels and strengthen the research atmosphere of the USU academic community.(RJ/©ULC)
