USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – Dr. Muni Ika, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah (KIP Kuliah) and ADik Program Team at the Center for Higher Education Financing and Assessment (PPAPT), Ministry of Research and Technology, reminded KIP Kuliah and ADik recipients to manage the financial assistance they receive responsibly throughout their studies.

The reminder was conveyed by Muni Ika during the KIP Kuliah Financial Management Awareness Session held at the Auditorium of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) on Tuesday (September 29, 2026). The event was opened by Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni of USU, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt.

The event was also attended by Director of the Directorate of Student Admissions and Services of USU, Prof. Dr. Rudy Sofyan, S.S., M.Hum.; Secretary of the Directorate of Student Admissions and Services, Nana Dyki Dirbawanto, S.E., M.A.B.; and Student Services Manager at the Directorate of Student Admissions and Services, Muhammad Zeinizen, S.Sos., M.SP. More than 900 KIP Kuliah and ADik recipients attended the event, including students from Papua.

In her presentation, Muni Ika emphasized several important points regarding the management and regulations governing KIP Kuliah financial assistance. She explained that the living allowance is transferred directly to students’ personal bank accounts. She also reminded participants that no party is permitted to deduct any portion of the living allowance for any reason.

“The living allowance is intended to support students’ basic needs while pursuing higher education. Therefore, students are expected to develop sound financial awareness and literacy so that the assistance is not used for unnecessary consumption unrelated to their education,” she said.

Muni Ika also reminded KIP Kuliah recipients to complete their studies on time in accordance with the prescribed study period, maintain good academic performance, and actively participate in both academic and non-academic activities. In addition, students were urged to refrain from activities or actions that could result in the cancellation of their KIP Kuliah assistance.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni of USU, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., encouraged all KIP Kuliah and Affirmation Program recipients to develop healthy financial habits from an early stage.

“Distinguish between needs and wants, prepare a simple budget, avoid unnecessary expenses, and use the assistance you receive responsibly,” said Prof. Poppy.

She expressed hope that students receiving financial assistance would not only focus on successfully completing their studies but also take advantage of the opportunity to develop their competencies, character, leadership, creativity, and social awareness.

“More importantly, I hope that you will not focus solely on successfully completing your studies. Make use of the opportunities you have been given to develop your competencies, character, leadership, creativity, and social awareness. Become active and high-achieving students who are able to uphold the good name of Universitas Sumatera Utara,” Prof. Poppy said.

Universitas Sumatera Utara, she continued, has high expectations for students supported through these programs. USU hopes to see KIP Kuliah recipients grow into outstanding academics who also demonstrate integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.

In due course, the students are expected to give back to society and contribute through knowledge, achievements, and community service.
