Through this collaboration, the Indonesian Literature Study Program of FIB USU and Ngobrol Buku seek to create a productive dialogue space among students, writers, editors, and the reading public to strengthen the Indonesian literary ecosystem in North Sumatra.
USU PR – The Indonesian Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), established a collaboration with the literacy community Ngobrol Buku through the organization of the Weekend Literary Festival, held on Saturday (11/10) at the Prof. T. Amin Ridwan Building (Multipurpose Hall), FIB USU.
This collaboration represents a concrete step toward strengthening the relationship between the academic world and the literacy community in Medan.
Through this partnership, FIB USU and Ngobrol Buku aim to create a productive dialogue space among students, writers, editors, and the reading public in order to reinforce the Indonesian literary ecosystem in North Sumatra.
The event featured three speakers: Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie, author of the novel Mari Pergi Lebih Jauh; Teguh Afandi, an editor from Kepustakaan Populer Gramedia (KPG); and Eka Dalanta, a representative of the Ngobrol Buku community. The discussion was moderated by Juhendri Chaniago from Ngobrol Buku.
The Dean of FIB USU, Prof. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., through the Head of the Indonesian Literature Study Program of FIB USU, Prof. Dr. Dwi Widayati, M.Hum., stated that this collaboration reflects the university’s openness to literacy dynamics beyond the academic sphere.
“We view literacy communities as strategic partners in reviving the enthusiasm for reading and writing among students. The academic world should not stand alone, but must move hand in hand with communities so that the knowledge being studied can be useful and have a real impact,” said Prof. Dwi.
The Indonesian Literature Study Program of FIB USU and Ngobrol Buku plan to continue this collaboration through sustainable literacy activities.
This initiative is expected to expand public participation in literacy activities while strengthening the role of the Indonesian Literature Study Program of FIB USU as a center for the development of literary studies and appreciation in North Sumatra.
