“Our task is to collaborate between alumni and campus to produce some educational recommendations that are urgently needed today,” he explained.

Public Relations USU—The Master of Political Science Alumni Association (IKA MIP) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an Alumni Gathering and the Inauguration of the Management for the 2025-2030 period on Saturday (01/18/2025) in the Multipurpose Hall of FISIP USU.

 

In his speech, the USU rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., emphasized the importance of maintaining friendships between alumni as one of the main forces supporting USU's vision of becoming a leading university. He hoped the management could significantly contribute to building the Master of Political Science Study Program and FISIP USU.

 

“Hopefully, the inauguration of the newly formed IKA MIP USU management can make a major contribution to efforts to build and advance the Master of Political Science Study Program of FISIP USU,” he said.

 

The Dean of FISIP USU, Dr. Hatta Ridho, S.Sos., MSP, also underlined the critical role of alumni in building relationships that support political policies and community-oriented development. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between alumni and campus to produce policy recommendations relevant to the times' needs.

 

“Our task is to collaborate between alumni and campus to produce some educational recommendations urgently needed today,” he explained.

 

In line with that, the Head of the Master of Political Science Study Program, Dr. Tonny P. Situmorang, M.Si., expressed his happiness in implementing this event. With the implementation of this event, it is hoped that the MIP FISIP USU alumni association can become a forum that unites alumni to continue working and contributing to the campus and the nation's progress.

 

“Today, we reflect on the strong bond between the alma mater and alumni to build better communication in the future,” he said.

 

Anita Lubis, M.IP., as Chairperson of IKA MIP FISIP USU for the period 2025-2030, in her speech, emphasized her commitment to bringing IKA MIP into an organization that actively contributes to society. He also conveyed a management plan prioritizing cross-sector collaboration to strengthen the alma mater.

 

“We want to make IKA MIP a shared space to generate innovative ideas beneficial for political and social progress,” said Hj. Anita.

 

The event, which was full of warmth, also brought together various parties from various professions, ranging from academics, politicians, practitioners, and journalists. In addition to the inauguration, the event was filled with discussions and preparation of work programs expected to benefit the alma mater and the community.
