MEDAN-USU PR: The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) North Sumatra II is a bridge built to educate and increase understanding of taxes among USU students, lecturers and education staff.

This was emphasized by USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M.Si, in his remarks at the signing of the MoU between the two institutions which was held online, Thursday (07/15/2021). “We from the Universitas Sumatera Utara would like to thank and welcome the opportunity to cooperate with the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes of North Sumatra II, which will be discussed further whether the form of activity will be expanded in other possible fields. Where the collaboration is expected to bring benefits or advantages to both parties involved, especially in terms of institutional development and supporting other tri dharma activities,” said Dr. Mury.

The Rector hopes that dissemination can be carried out through seminars and coaching clinic activities for lecturers and all alumni, considering that the understanding of taxation is still very minimal. “So far, the cooperation between USU and DGT has been very good. USU also has a tax center, which is expected to be expanded,” he said.

This cooperation is also expected to open up opportunities for the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program, which provides great opportunities for the inclusion of elements of the industrial world and other parties in improving the quality of human resources pursued by universities. As well as opening up wider space for the implementation of various activities that support the development of insight, science, research and innovation.

“We hope that with the signing of this memorandum of understanding for the next five years, the relationship between USU and the North Sumatra II DGT Regional Office can be even closer and able to make a positive contribution to both institutions,” said the Rector.

Meanwhile, Regional Head of the Directorate General of Taxes of North Sumatra II Anggrah Warsono explained that in the first semester of 2021, tax revenue in the ranks of the Directorate General of Taxes of North Sumatra I and North Sumatra II had a very positive trend, where there was an increase in nominal. For this reason, the Regional Office asks for support from all parties including USU.

“With the signing of this MoU, it is hoped that it will be able to help tax revenue and annual tax returns. Currently only 64 percent can be realized.
