MEDAN – The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through the Master of Management Alumni Association (IKA MM USU), held its 6th General Assembly at the Royal Sumatera Club House on Saturday (July 25, 2026). The event served as a forum to evaluate the organization's performance and elect the leadership board for the upcoming term.
During the assembly, Dr. Tarman Hartono, S.E., M.M. was unanimously re-elected as Chairman of IKA MM USU for the next term.
Representing the USU Rector, the Vice Rector for Planning, Infrastructure, and Business, Dr. Muhammad Anggia Muchtar, S.T., M.M.IT., emphasized the strategic role of alumni in supporting the university's development.
"Alumni play an important role in strengthening collaborative networks, supporting curriculum development, creating internship and career opportunities for students, and providing valuable input for the advancement of the university. The synergy between alumni and USU must continue to be strengthened to realize USU's vision of becoming a world-class university," he said.
The Head of the Master of Management Study Program at the USU Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Ir. Meilita Tryana Sembiring, S.T., M.T., IPU., stated that the partnership between the Master of Management Study Program and IKA MM USU has been well established through various collaborative initiatives.
"We hope that this long-standing partnership will continue to grow stronger, supporting the advancement of both the Master of Management Study Program and IKA MM USU in the years to come," she said.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Muhammad Zaini, S.H., M.M., expressed his appreciation to all alumni and invited guests for contributing to the success of the 6th General Assembly.
"We hope this assembly serves not only as an organizational agenda but also as a momentum to strengthen friendship, reinforce alumni solidarity, and establish a leadership team capable of bringing IKA MM USU to even greater achievements," he said.
Meanwhile, the re-elected Chairman of IKA MM USU, Dr. Tarman Hartono, S.E., M.M., noted that the organization will face increasingly significant challenges as higher education and the professional world continue to evolve.
"Alumni must be able to adapt to these changes while continuing to serve as strategic partners of the study program, particularly in bridging the needs of industry practitioners and the academic community," he said.
Also attending the event was the Regent of South Tapanuli and a USU Master of Management alumnus, H. Gus Irawan Pasaribu, S.E., Ak., M.M., CA. He commended the achievements made by IKA MM USU over the years.
"I hope IKA MM USU continues to grow through cross-generational collaboration so that it can make even greater contributions to its alumni, alma mater, and society," he said.
Through the 6th General Assembly, IKA MM USU is expected to further strengthen organizational solidarity, enhance collaboration between alumni and the Universitas Sumatera Utara, and implement programs that provide tangible benefits for alumni, students, and the university.
