PUBLIC RELATIONS USU - Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially presented the Appointment Decree (SK) to Professors at the USU Academic Senate Room on Tuesday (05/08/2025).

The presentation of Professor SK is a form of appreciation for the contributions and dedication of academics who have met the highest academic standards in the world of education. Nine professors received the SK as professors. Since January 2021, the number of professors appointed has reached 116, with a total of 208 within the USU environment.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si. stated that professors must keep pace with the development of science in line with the times. Conducting research and studies in their respective fields that positively impact society. “Publishing findings or innovations that can contribute to industry,” he explained.

On the same occasion, Prof. Dr. Dra. Nursukma Suri, M.Ag, as the Head of the Arabic Literature Program at USU, mentioned in an interview that students should have high aspirations. One of them is to become dedicated academics in the field of education who make tangible contributions to the advancement of knowledge and societal progress. Instilling determination, resolve, and perseverance within oneself.

“Whether becoming an academic or pursuing any career that benefits humanity, becoming an academic requires a deeper level of perseverance,” she said.

Furthermore, Prof. Nursukma emphasized that academics must be able to serve as role models in terms of academic knowledge and attitude, ethics, and integrity, especially for their pupils. “Inspiring students is an example of ourselves, so what we do comes from the deepest part of our hearts,” he added.
