This visit was to initiate a geothermal socialization program that will be comprehended in Geothermal Goes to Campus. The knowledge of geothermal utilization is new for the academic community in USU. According to Vice Rector I, this socialization is necessary to be given to the academic community of USU, especially students.

HUMAS USU - Vice Rector I for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A. received a visit from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and PT Sorik Merapi, Wednesday (05/04/2023) in the Academic Senate Room of USU's Bureau of Administrative Centre.

This visit was to initiate a geothermal socialization program that will be comprehended in Geothermal Goes to Campus. The knowledge of geothermal utilization is new for the academic community in USU. According to Vice Rector I, this socialization is necessary to be given to the academic community of USU, especially students.

“This is actually something new which we think our students and academic community need to be educated about,” said Edy.


Reportedly, Geothermal Goes to Campus is ready to visit USU in the middle or the 4th week of May. Geothermal Goes to Campus will be presented in the form of seminars and talk shows that will be delivered by experts in the field of geothermal.


“(The socialization) Will probably be in the form of talk shows or seminars and other educational events related to geothermal,” explained USU's Vice Rector I.

The collaboration between USU, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and PT Sorik Merapi aims to educate and provide positive information regarding geothermal development in Indonesia. This statement was delivered by Geothermal Cooperation Analyst, Agus Sudiaman.


“Positive information related to geothermal will also increase the development of geothermal in Indonesia,” he said.
