Jakarta: Retired Police General Drs. Agus Andrianto, SH, MH, has been officially elected as Chairman of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) for the 2025–2030 term. The former Vice Chief of Police, who now serves as Minister of Immigration and Corrections of the Republic of Indonesia, was elected by acclamation during the MWA USU plenary meeting held in Jakarta on Friday (June 13).
The democratic meeting was attended by 17 MWA members and appointed Prof. Dr. Tamrin, M.Sc. as Secretary of the USU MWA for the same term. Both will undertake strategic responsibilities in supporting USU's transformation into a world-class university.
Prof. Dr. Guslihan Dasa Tjipta, Sp. A (K), closed his term as Secretary of the MWA for the 2020–2025 period by expressing his appreciation and congratulations to the new leadership team. He hoped their presence would bring positive energy and innovation to accelerate USU's progress.
“The University Council plays a strategic role in promoting better university governance. We are optimistic that the new leadership will bring a spirit of change and strengthen our shared commitment to advancing Universitas Sumatera Utara,” said Prof. Guslihan.
On this occasion, Prof. Guslihan also submitted his Final Term Memorandum as a form of accountability for implementing his duties over the past five years. The document was systematically compiled and submitted to the elected Chair and Secretary of the MWA as an institutional reference.
This new leadership marks the MWA USU's commitment to strengthening transparent, accountable, and institution-focused governance. Support from MWA members is expected to enhance USU's position as one of Indonesia's top universities and a strategic partner in national development.
