FPCI USU Hosts Consul General to Discuss Digital Diplomacy

HUMAS USU - Foreign Policy Community Indonesia Chapter University of Sumatera Utara (FPCI Chapter USU) held the Diplomacy Fair (DIPLOFAIR) International Talk Discussion 2.0 with the theme "Digital Diplomacy: Bridging Borders Through Technology & How Digital Tools Open New Paths For Global Collaboration” at the USU Digital Learning Center Building (DLCB) 8th Floor on Thursday (28/08/2025).
Considering that diplomacy is becoming closer to daily life and touching upon global issues such as climate change, food security, and even digital transformation, the USU Secretary, Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.F.E.R, representing the USU Rector, expressed his gratitude to FPCI Chapter USU as the organizer of DIPLOFAIR, which serves as a platform to enhance students' insights into various international issues and developments.
“Diplomacy today is evolving into something that is close to everyday life,” he said.
Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.F.E.R., affirmed USU's commitment to creating graduates who have an awareness of global responsibility. He hoped that DIPLOFAIR can be a platform for honing oneself, sparking enthusiasm, and fostering the courage to contribute to the world's strategic issues.
“USU as a higher education institution is always committed to shaping graduates who have an awareness of global responsibility,” he asserted.
The Honorary Consul of Timor Leste, Mr Irawan Mau-Lequi, appreciated FPCI Chapter USU's initiative in discussing global issues. He considered DIPLOFAIR a positive, beneficial learning and networking forum. Therefore, Irawan Mau-Lequi hoped that in the future, more students would get involved in the activities organized by FPCI Chapter USU.
“I appreciate FPCI Chapter USU’s initiative in discussing global issues,” he said.
DIPLOFAIR brought in Dr. Edmund Chia, the Consul General of Singapore in Medan, and Ravi Shanker Goel, the Consul General of India in Medan, as speakers.
