FMIPA USU Welcomes Visiting Lecturer

FMIPA USU organized a Visiting Lecturer program featuring international researcher Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui to strengthen academic collaboration and encourage innovative research development.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Visiting Lecturer program on Thursday, May 6, 2026, at the Hall Room, 1st Floor of FMIPA USU.
The event featured international speaker Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui, a researcher from the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi, Pakistan, as well as a COMSTECH Distinguished Scholar. The lecture carried the theme “Design and Synthesis of New Bioactive Heterocyclic Compounds: Synthesis, In Vitro and In Silico Studies.”
Dean of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si., M.Si., stated in his remarks that the event was an honor for the faculty.
“It is an honor for us to welcome Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui,” he said.
Furthermore, Prof. Miswar expressed hope that the program would positively contribute to students’ academic development while encouraging innovative and collaborative research initiatives.
In an interview session, he also emphasized that the faculty strongly supports international activities as part of the university’s internationalization efforts.
“We strongly support international activities that involve students,” he explained.
Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Liana Dwi Sri Hastuti, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., also shared her expectations for students after participating in the program.
“We hope students will be able to establish research collaborations at the international level,” she stated.
The event was conducted interactively through discussion and question-and-answer sessions between participants and the speaker. Through this activity, FMIPA USU is expected to further strengthen international collaboration and encourage the development of innovative and impactful research.
