USU PR – The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKEP USU), held the peak celebration of its 16th Anniversary on Monday (December 15, 2025) at the Faculty of Nursing Hall, 1st Floor. In this year’s commemoration, FKEP USU adopted the theme “An Impactful Campus, an Empowered Society, a Prosperous Nation” as a manifestation of its commitment to producing professional nursing personnel who are adaptive to the development of the times and technological advancement.

The Anniversary commemoration served as a moment of reflection and reinforcement of the Faculty of Nursing’s role in supporting national health development. The selected theme reflects FKEP USU’s determination not only to excel academically, but also to make tangible contributions to community welfare and national progress.

The Vice Rector IV of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Drs. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc., in his remarks, delivered an inspiring message regarding the strategic role of the Faculty of Nursing in improving the nation’s health quality. He emphasized that the theme of the 16th Anniversary is aligned with the direction of higher education transformation toward Indonesia Emas 2045.

“Nursing is a discipline that directly engages with human life. Therefore, the campus must be able to deliver tangible impacts for the community through education, research, and community service,” he stated.

The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Dudut Tanjung, S.Kp., M.Kes., Sp.KMB, presented the faculty’s future development direction, including plans to open a Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program in Nursing. He emphasized the importance of synergy among all members of the academic community—lecturers, staff, and students—in maintaining the Excellent accreditation and encouraging the achievement of international accreditation.

“Togetherness and collaboration are the main keys to maintaining the quality and competitiveness of the Faculty of Nursing at both the national and global levels,” he expressed.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the 16th Anniversary Organizing Committee, Dr. Siti Zahara Nasution, S.Kp., MNS, explained that the series of Anniversary activities was successfully carried out thanks to the synergy of undergraduate and master’s students, as well as alumni. This cross-generational collaboration reflects the spirit of togetherness within the academic community in strengthening FKEP USU’s contribution to society and the nation.

The Chair of the FKEP USU Alumni Association, Apipuddin Harahap, S.Kep., Ners, also emphasized the alumni’s commitment to continuously supporting faculty programs in the fields of education, research, and community service. According to him, alumni solidarity is an important asset in expanding networks and strengthening the image of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara, at both national and international levels.

Through the commemoration of its 16th Anniversary, the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is expected to further strengthen its role as an impactful campus that makes tangible contributions to national health development, while also bringing the name of Universitas Sumatera Utara to greater recognition on the global stage.
