Prestasi yang diraih Yemima menjadi bukti bahwa mahasiswa FK USU tidak hanya unggul dalam bidang akademik, tetapi juga mampu berkontribusi melalui kepemimpinan, komunikasi publik, serta pengabdian kepada masyarakat di tingkat nasional.
HUMAS USU – Another remarkable achievement has been earned by the academic community of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU). Yemima Mutiara Caren Sitanggang, an FK USU student representing Deli Serdang Regency, was crowned Putri Otonomi Indonesia (POI) 2026 during the Grand Final held at Graha Bhinneka Perkasa Jaya on Thursday (July 2, 2026). This accomplishment is a source of great pride for the Faculty of Medicine, USU.
The Putri Otonomi Indonesia 2026 competition featured 19 finalists representing regencies and municipalities from across Indonesia. The competition assessed not only the participants' appearance but also their communication skills, leadership, national insight, and ability to promote the potential of their respective regions. Throughout the quarantine period, all finalists received intensive training in leadership, public communication, regional promotion, national awareness, and the values of national defense, preparing them to become competitive young leaders capable of contributing to national development.
Before being crowned Putri Otonomi Indonesia 2026, Yemima first earned the title of Favorite Princess after receiving the highest number of votes in the online public voting. The award also secured her a golden ticket to advance directly to the Top Four alongside three other finalists.

Following the final round of evaluations, the panel of judges named Yemima Mutiara Caren Sitanggang as Putri Otonomi Indonesia 2026. Annabelle Malianglay (North Minahasa Regency) was named First Runner-up, Asyifa Nada Ashila Sulhi (Jember Regency) received the title of Second Runner-up, and Cinta Kasih Sayang Helena (South Tangerang City) was awarded Third Runner-up.
This achievement is also aligned with the Faculty of Medicine's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), through the development of student character, leadership, and competencies.
Yemima's accomplishment demonstrates that FK USU students excel not only academically but also in leadership, public communication, and community engagement at the national level. It is hoped that her success will inspire all students to continue developing their potential, uphold the reputation of the university, and make meaningful contributions to the nation's development.
