Public Relations USU - The Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences Self-Accreditation Institute conducted an offline field assessment for the S-1 Biology Study Program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), which took place in the Multipurpose Room, 1st Floor Unit 8 FMIPA USU on Monday (23/02/2025).
In his remarks, Vice Rector I of USU, Prof. Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the 2 accreditation assessor teams, namely Prof. Dr. L. Hartanto Nugroho, M. Agr from Gajah Mada University and Prof. Dr. Enny Zulaikha, M.P. from Sepuluh November Institute of Technology. He hopes that this assessment can provide the best results for improving the accreditation of Biology S1 Study Program which currently has the status of “Excellent”.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of North Sumatra University (USU) continues to improve its academic and institutional quality. In the framework of the field assessment conducted by the assessor team, the dean and study program have made various preparations to ensure the best results in this accreditation process.
The Dean of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc., revealed that he and the study program had formed a special team responsible for preparing the necessary documents and data. This step was taken to support the assessment conducted by the assessor team and show FMIPA USU's commitment to improving academic quality.
In this field assessment, the assessor team, represented by Prof. Dr. L. Hartanto Nugroho, M.Agr., highlighted the importance of research instruments in the assessment process. One of the main points emphasized was that every institution must have an integrated research roadmap starting from the university, faculty, and study program levels.
“The main point emphasized is that in institutions, there must be a research roadmap that connects the university and faculty to the study program,” said Prof Hartanto.
Prof Hartanto also emphasized the importance of all lecturers' involvement in realizing the research roadmap. In addition, students are expected to actively participate in research conducted by lecturers so that research results can be optimized and beneficial for the development of science. development of science.
Regarding the accreditation improvement strategy, the faculty and study program has conducted an internal assessment by transparently presenting data and facts to the assessor team. This step aims to show FMIPA USU's readiness to meet the accreditation standards that have been set.
“We present all the data by our team honestly and openly so that the assessors can see firsthand our readiness to meet accreditation standards,” he added.
