USU PUBLIC RELATIONS-MEDAN: Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a ceremony to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, in a hybrid way (online and offline), Tuesday (8/17/2021) morning. The offline implementation takes place in the parking lot of the USU Central Administrative Bureau Building and online through a zoom meeting. USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., appeared as the ceremony supervisor.

The ceremony of the 76th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia was preceded by the raising of the red and white flag accompanied by the national anthem Indonesia Raya, followed by reading the text of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila.Also present at the offline ceremony were Vice Rectors, University Secretaries, Expert Staff of the Rector, Head of Bureau and Head of Sections within USU.Meanwhile, the online ceremony was attended by the Chairperson of the USU Board of Trustees, Chair of the Academic Senate, Chair of the Board of Professors, Deans, Deputy Deans, Heads of Departments/Prodi, Head of LP and LPPM, Head of Libraries, Head of Information System Center, Head of UPT/Work Unit and Head of USU's Corps of public servant of Indonesian Republic (KORPRI)

After the ceremony at the USU Rector's Bureau, the Rector accompanied by other leadership elements attended the Seconds of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence through the official ceremony of the 76th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia from the State Palace, which was broadcast virtually.The Covid-19 pandemic has forced a number of habitual changes in commemorating the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia since 2020, where a number of adjustments were made in the implementation of ceremonies including implementing strict health protocols.

Met after attending the ceremony, the Rector gave a statement regarding the celebration of Indonesia's independence."Independence teaches us to keep fighting during this Covid-19 pandemic, working together to overcome all problems and difficultiesforbothhealth and economic matters.So all of us are expected to play an active role in overcoming various humanitarian problems and contribute to the progress of the nation.That's the struggle.Hopefully we will be stronger and grow as prosperous Indonesian people," said the USU Rector.

In addition,healso reminded the USU academic community to focus on innovation in overcoming existing problems.Also the using of digitization to simplify all matters that is increasingly diverse and very strict.That's what we need to do.And continue to learn, not only for students, but also for lecturers, in overcoming the disruptions that occur in this world.(*/©ULC)
