HUMAS USU - The Quality Assurance Agency of Universitas Sumatera Utara (BPM USU) held the 18th Cycle of 2025 Internal Auditor Certification Workshop for the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI). The workshop took place in the Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Prof. Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., Vice Rector I of USU, stated that the workshop aimed to improve the quality and capabilities of internal audits within the university. They oversee the quality of learning and the curriculum in each study program and faculty.

"Auditors not only check for errors, but also examine whether the learning system and learning process are appropriate for the university," he said.

Prof. Eddy added that USU currently has 23 international auditors, and it is hoped that this will produce certified internal auditors. These auditors possess the quality and capabilities to contribute to the university's qualitative and quantitative progress.

"Not only in the context of education, but also in the context of research and community service," he added.

Furthermore, the Secretary of BPM, Ir. Tati Vidiani Sari, S.Pt., M.P., IPM., CIIQA, explained that the workshop will last two days and is targeted to produce 100 certified auditors to conduct internal quality audits in cycle 18 in 2025.

"Later, we will deploy study programs and faculties to audit and evaluate the internal quality assurance system that has been implemented thus far," she explained.

Ir. Tavi emphasized the importance of mastering internal quality audit procedures and audit ethics. The auditors will then prepare a report for presentation. "Then there will be role-playing, practicing conducting a real internal quality audit in the study program," she concluded.
